I wouldn't mention peace negotiations just yet - maybe say you plan to counter-attack our holy city and defend your coastal cities, and can they lend some sort of support - really concentrate on that - ask for gold for defence tech and unit upgrades and if they keep pushing about units push back about them helping out rather than being nosey...

I've logged in, accepted the Peace Treaty, and offered open borders to you. So all you need to do is log in and accept it. Then when we log in for our turn, we can send over the first batch of catapults.
Gold will be a problem, since we don't have any either.

I moved the catapults into your land and gifted them according to your instructions. There are a few more coming as well. I'm sorry that I made a mistake with the two catapults way over in the west; I thought you had to have a move point available to gift a unit so I moved them only one tile into your territory before gifting them. If this were a PbEM I would have reloaded to fix this since it's the first thing I did, but alas, it's not. I hope it doesn't screw up your logistics too badly. Anyway, good luck with the catapults; may they always withdraw when you suicide them!

HAK was doing some scouting towards WIFOM last turn, do you know how many units Trolls have in and around there at the moment? Also we're worried that White Russian, Gin Tonic and On the Rocks may start building Triremes - so if you're at a loss for what to do with your scout we'd appreciate a heads-up over there too.
Things are getting so exciting that I think I need a lie down.

HAK, I decided to send you that chat transcript by email. That's easier.
To any lurkers: what's been going on is that I was afraid the Trolls were mad at us in real-life over our shift of allegiances in-game, but it appears that's not the case beyond normal frustration when something goes awry in-game. I haven't posted all our discussions so as not to make a big deal out of it, so if you felt like you were missing something, that explains it!
