What city sites do you plan on settling next ? And in how many turns approximately ?

Nice to see a lot of info, even if you don't have time to analyze it yet (and probably won't be around to see most of it tongue )

Here are the next two sites I'd like to go for.  It gets us our sea presence and I won't have to devote many workers to site 7 to get it making some cash.

There are at least two chops for each (if I settle on the Stone for #7), which will likely go to 1. Granary > 2. Lighthouse.  Then some type of culture -- I am thinking of taking a 1-turn detour to Mysticism after HBR so we don't have to build expensive Libraries to grab extra resources -- we can 3 whip a Library and other goodies once these cities mature.

Fairbanks will have to devote a Galley (and maybe a Trireme for further expansion into the sea)

There are other sites around the capital and Juneau that I may favor once those two have Forges and will move to a more non-whip production.  Anchorage 2-whips a Forge next turn, with overflow likely going to a 1-turn worker.  Then hopefully a 3-turn Settler -- I'll have to check because something else came up...

I'm not try'na hear that, CH!  lol

OK, so here is the other development.  We just received Hinduism into Anchorage, but it belongs to Krill.  So I have a question regarding this, as getting a Monastery into Silka and Nome could help my culture war with Joey to my north.  Joey does not have a religion right now, so adopting Hinduism could come in handy to combat that.

My question is:

I am trying to remember:  What is the function that Krill could use to get visibility to any of my cities that have his religion?  Is there an Espionage discount? Does it come with the shrine -- I hope not because Krill already has it!

Since I am asking questions, I should also ask.

Is KTB a factor in this game, or do I get research bonuses from all players regardless of us having met?  That will be helpful to know as I plan for a naval strategy -- I still have 4 civs to meet.

I'm almost certain that KTB is a thing in RtR mod.
I don't know enough about the espionnage system to answer your religion question.

Thanks Adrien.  I was also thinking it could be an AP thing, and also read somewhere that it may have gone away when Espionage was introduced in either Warlords or BTS.  But I could have sworn I have encountered it in a recent game here.

I believe the religion espionage modifier applies based on the adopted state religion and goes both ways, independent of who owns the holy city. I.e. If you adopt a state religion you get an espionage discount in foreign cities with that religion present. No state religion = no discount. I don't know what the actual amount the discount would be.

Thanks, Cornflakes!  That's really good news if that's the case.

Besides the cultural benefit I'll get against Joey, it may help my cause with Krill to be his useful idiot for awhile and add value to his shrine.  Likely not, so I certainly won't count on that.

Incidentally, I do have enough EP to see that Krill just finished researching Currency in 4 turns after about 3 turns of 0% research.

The Map

As I said earlier, I am pretty delighted with our map trade with Couer as it gave us the location on every other civ.  The map design is pretty genius too -- each player has a moderate mainland like ours is, and has one player connected from the south and one from the north.

The layout has these mainlands shifted ever so slightly (20 degrees roughly), so all 9 connected civs have the appearance of a forward-slash candy-caned around the torroid.  For example, Joey is not on the other side of Krill as I suspected, he’s 6 civs away!

I’ll be devoting a basic post on each on the other 8 civs, and may get into more specifics once I am able to look at each city in detail.

Let's start with:

Krill of Inca

Northern neighbor: Me!
Southern neighbor: Gavagai

This may have been one of Couer’s earliest map trades because we only see 4 of Inca’s 11 cities.  I was heartened to  see Gavagai on his southern border to hopefully keep Krill in check, but I can just as easily see them becoming fish buddies in order to do as much damage as possible to their respective rivals and save their energies for a late-game dust up.

I was also glad to see that Krill’s land is concentrated more to the south, so I am hoping this is further evidence that he won’t have designs on us for awhile despite the proximity of his SoZ/HE captial.

Oh, and the fog on each side?  All islands.  This is going to be some game...

Gavagai of Ottomans

Northern neighbor: Krill
Southern neighbor: Dark Savant

Gavagai has already taken to the islands, and appears to have one city capture under his belt already from DS.  It looks like he will be competing with dtay to fill out the western seas, while being pretty much uncontested to his east.

Also, though the Wonders screen shows it as unknown, I was able to uncover the location of the fabled Pyramids:

This will give Gavagai the upper hand on early tech, which when coupled with cheap Workboats, Grocers and Markets (Expansive) and cheap Libraries (Creative) will make his offshore adventures quite profitable.  Creative will also help him secure all that outside seafood more quickly than others, as well as leverage decisive control of his holdings.

Oh and Expansive gives him half price Hammams too. eek  A juggernaut in the making.
