lol. so you miscounted a bit. with gilgamesh we had 6 christian cities (although magobin still needs to build its temple. and gilgamesh of course). I had a spare christian missionary around, gilgamesh and the odyssey had it already, so i gambled on a 5th religion in king arthur - and succeeded.

so thats one 5th religion down. still need to spread christianity to 2 more cities for temples, of course. my missionaries don't fail, yo.
tomorrow I'll figure out how to get a 5th religion into gilgamesh and the odyssey.

still waiting on a lurker to give me a link to missionary odds for 5th and 6th religions. is 6th religion so bad its not even worth trying?

edit: confuscianism also successfully spread to popol vol.

In the mean time, any requests?

Given the weather, a 99 would be nice. Thanks for asking.

Edit: re the multi person golden age, the chosen GPs are based on distance from the one you trigger the golden age with. So essentially put your artist away from the oter two who stay stacked on the one tile. Unless Krill changed the mechanics for choosing the GPs in these situations.

I believe the odds are these:
-prob = 40 + (NumReligions - CityReligions) * (100 - 40) / NumReligions
-5th = 40 + (7 - 4) * 60 / 7 = 65%
-6th = 40 + (7 - 5) * 60 / 7 = 57%

surely that can't be right, 6th religion is over 50% if that is true, im pushing 6 religons in all 3 CV cities.
I don't think its right though??

ok, as promised, I have lots of pictures. I can't promise they will be interesting, we are stuck in peace until we gt closer to victory (hopefully war comes too late, hehe).

first, a little bit of whats going on in the rest of the world:

slowcheetah has declared on commodore! hmm. he took two cities as well.
I thought it very bizarre that he declared while commodore was in game. I asked commodore about it in game, he said he was afk anyway, so I guess slowcheetah just got impatient. I hope that doesnt create "whose first in combat order" problems next turn.

anyway, here are the two cities slowcheetah took:
this can only be good for us, I guess. One of my minor goals is to pass commodore in score before the game ends. Since we are going to turn off research soon, I need commodore to lose some cities, hehe.

btw, commodore and serdoa both launched golden ages recently. I figured out what they are doing with them from the demos:

we are #2 in food. 2 turns ago (current graphs) we were still #4, so its pretty clear both are starving their cities for great people. thats good, especially with serdoa, better great people than soldiers. Here's our main border with Serdoa:
that grenadier is accompanied by 3 longbows. so he has grenadiers, and next turn he will be able to build airships. anywho, at the moment his army seems to be mostly longbows, so he's not a threat to invade anytime soon.
if we weren't going CV, I think we would have opportunities to invade commodore and serdoa lol oh well, this gives us a much better chance to win.

speaking of cv, here are some city shots:

so I realized that I needed artists here more than merchants or priests. also had a revalation thanks to lewwyn's comment. this GP finishes in 7 turns. it should have about 50/50 chance of artist or priest. this allows me to run more useful specialists in our national epic city (merchants and scientists), as I can pop a golden age with 2 non-artists, or 1 non-artist and an artist. if I get an artist here, I can still use the shah gp. Shah should still have a 15% chance of getting an artist, but if I get really unlucky and get artists in both places, I can just keep running the scientists/merchants in shah, since we are delaying our golden age a bit anyway. fun stuff.

as soon as I get that farm built for the aeneid to take over, I'm taking back the corn here. i want the odyssey to be as big as possible. it will probably be the main city we starve for artists in the golden age, and it will also build the globe theatre and be a big draft spot after the golden age.
I squeezed in the buddhist monastery for hammers and a little research. i know thats very temporary, both will go away with sci method, but its very cheap and the culture will not go away.

I could be talked out of building chicken itza here. but it already has 82 hammers into it, so this seems the best place (since we can't get fail gold for our own builds). since it goes obsolete with rifling, I have to build it now. (note that the bar says 10 turns for rifling, but with the bank complete in gilgamesh we are up to about 62% breakeven, so we'll be able to run two turns at 100% research, so its more like 7-8 turns away). I'll build the paya in gilgamesh or the odyssey, of course. I haven't decided which yet.

some other cities:
el cid grows to its max size next turn, and maths will permanently take over the pigs and grow to size 18. im hoping I'll be able to 1 turn rifles with the extra hammers, I forgot to check though.

I have been debating whether to build the forbidden palace here or in mahabrata (mahabrata has a 8.5 upkeep, but here it will be closer to more cities). I think here is probably better, after the catapult. the confucian missionary is on hold because Im not sure if I'll need it yet. I sent the missionary completed here this turn to mahabrata by mistake, not realizing it had that religion already. I only need one more confucianism, so if it succeeds I can cancel the missionary. if it fails I'll have to pump it out before the forbidden palace.

ok, some state of the empire shots:

note that serdoa has communism already :/ he'll get the free great person for communism and physics. maybe even facism, although I'm not sure where plako is, I've lost research visibility on him (hoping to get it back soon, we have it still on slowcheetah, commodore, and serdoa).

we should be the second person to rifling, after commodore. plako does have replaceable parts already, though, so maybe he beats us. serdoa doesnt have replaceable parts, thats good. we're the only team besides xenu without chemistry, apparently.

power looking good:
we should have most of our infastructure builds done by the time rifling is finished. I'll have 75% of our cities pumping out rifles, hehe. My goal is to secure the #2 power spot fairly quickly (I don't expect to be able to catch up with plako).

Lewwyn, what do you think about researching theology after rifling? we can one turn it at 50%.

I'm thinking that at the tail end of our golden age we won't need organized religion anymore. we'll be just about through with infastructure (MAYBE still need some cathedrals in king arthur, but the other 2 cities should be done and the banks/grocers will be done as well). so our options are pacifism for more great artists in shah and theocracy for more experience on our rifles. I think I like theocracy better, though, as pacifism will just make our costs so high. im thinking I revolt to pacifism and free market on the first turn of the golden age, then on the last turn i revolt to nationalism and theocracy (keeping free market, hereditary rule, and caste).

Have you checked how much pacifism might cost? You might be surprised. During a GA while starving multiple cities it should be worthwhile. And OR is too important for the culture buildings right now. After the GA? Maybe theo would be okay but if we could sustain pacifism we might be better off. It's going to depend. In any case we don't have to worry about it until we are set to start our GA.

Oh and we should avoid all map trades. Also we should spread eps out to try and make sure no one gets vision on our cities. Especially those with the religions and shrines.

err, ok. we have healthy eps on the big players. research visibility on 3 of them, and we're very close on plako.

ill check, but xenu or scooter might get an ep edge on us, but im less worried.

yeah I accepted a map trade with xenu. hopefully he doesnt pass it around. anyway I think that cat was out of the bag ages ago. but ill avoid them from here on out.

pacifism has a lower base cost in rbmod, but you still get hit for military units. and once we have rifling, I am going to be building A LOT of military units, hehe.

edit: plako is producing a crapload of EPs. he must have built jails everywhere, I guess (and he's in nationalism too). I think he's producing as many eps as the rest of the world combined, or close to it. so if he wants visibility on us, we might not be able to stop him. in any case I currently have them 50/50 on plako and serdoa, which seems prudent as slowcheetah and commodore aren't putting any on us to make us lose our research visibility. (and we even have visibility on most of commodores cities). nationalism will help with eps, too, as every city has a courthouse, and every city that has a castle(more than half) will get an extra EP with nationalism.
