Scooter countered with Liberalism for Incense + 700g + our map, which is pretty good.
While driving into work today I was thinking I'd do it if we could get it for 500g, and I bet if we counter with 500g + incense he'll take the deal.
That also reminds me
a) We should look at what resource trades we're making, especially with Scooter, where we might have given him a resource for a tech trade like this and now are just giving it to him for free, so we can renegotiate
b) I remember what the 4th thing was from my last post . The key to our winning (or even doing well) is going to be if we can convince everyone, with no talking or diplomacy, to not trade techs with Krill. I'm worried even now that if we do this trade that Scooter will also trade Liberalism to Krill, which kind of defeats the whole point of it....

Didn't look at RB before leaving for work, so I don't think we'll get to switch over before Commodore plays. That's like a head-slapping good idea about running Wealth Builds to get to the spy first. We should definitely do that.

We countered Scooter with 502g + incense + WM for Liberalism, which he did not take.
He countered with Lib + WM for 600g + incense + gems + WM, which we took.
Krill now has 7114g. He had 8006 gold last turn, so he is at -892gpt. That would make me think that he plans to get Communism in 8t. I would imagine that he, like us, has Sci Meth all but teched.

Currently, with a good chunk of cities on Wealth, we have 1464g in the bank, and are making 1181bpt and -136gpt.
We're at 7653/7728 on Sci Meth, and Communism is 9016 beakers. That's 6.42 turns of research (with 20% pre-req bonus), so I think that we should aim to finish it in 6t, or maybe even 5t, which may be tough, since next turn we're going to lose 15 AP / SM enhanced monasteries (costing us hammers, gold and research).

So Rego is off camping and he left me some instructions in our chat before ending the turn:

WHO'S THE BEAKER LEADER NOW BUIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
krill's coming in
his gnp is 1805
(for the record)
i want to see if he makes any adjustments
like putting a ton of cities on wealth / research
ours is actually 1817 right now
I'm actually house-sitting for my folks and didn't get to log in, but maybe that was for the best because it let Krill do his turn and see if he did any adjustments.
He did:
GNP went from 1805 to 4308.
Partner, we ain't winning this race to Communism.
So do we continue course? Or do we try to be the first to Physics? Either way, Sci Meth comes in once I end turn.

Ended turn and have Scientific Method. We are the only ones with it, so maybe we have a shot at Communism still. Economy dropped to 1143bpt and -199gpt at 100% science. Communism in 6. Okay, if Krill doesn't get Sci Meth at the end of this turn then maybe we have a shot.
More importantly, where is the oil?
Yes, that is all the oil we have. This $^#%-ing map...
Commodore also has 1 source of oil, in his newly conquered lands from Cyneheard. Nakor has no oil. Krill & Scooter have so much oil there's no chance we can sabotage theirs.
I think we need to settle the stone island to the west, just have more redundant sources of oil. We also need to settle south at Apathy Island. We better have some uranium in a secure location

Scooter has some good ones, which is kind of shocking considering how sprawled out his lands are. But he has a land-based source on the south-center portion of his starting island (in the tundra) and another source south of that on an ice island that is practically an internal sea island. There's a 3rd source directly under a barb city near his stuff, so I imagine he'll want to take that city.
Krill has so many sources that unhooking all of them is just impractical. I didn't count them all, but I saw at least 4, and one of them is in the northern sea that is blocked off from everyone but Nakor thanks to ice & tundra.
What I hate about ours is it makes us stretch our defenses farther. Pat is a spot we naturally want to make a strong point, but Commodore or Scooter will be able to cut that source on the first turn of any conflict with little difficulty. We can't realistically defend the water-based source in the islands to the west (so maybe we shouldn't even take it? Still, better to have redundant sources).
Our best bet for a "secure" spot is to settle right on top of the source down at Apathy Island. That is a coastal location, though, and it is so far away it creates another point that we need to account for in our defenses. It just sucks, honestly.

Yeah those oil locations suck. So does Krill's 4508 GNP....
I'm back now and awful sore. I agree that if Krill doesn't come up with Sci Meth this turn we have a shot, but he likely will, and we likely don't (if you're following along )

I think we need to stay on Communism even if we dont' win the spy. State Property is just too good for the tile improvements we have gone with.
