Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

36hr or 48 hr imo works best. Due to timezones anyway. What also would work so much better if people didnt think that someone has to read all 40 pages of posts every day to be non-scum. smile

I respectfully disagree. It’s already easy for scum to hide via inactivity.

I could have done a better job trying to explicitly herd Jabbz or Gold, but one thing that made it hard is that I put out so much content ranging from specific quote analysis to big summaries and no one read it because it took time. I don’t really care how many POSTS someone has, but I wish people wouldn’t play if they can’t be bothered to read 1-2 posts when those are specifically highlighted to them.

EDIT: (omg I can edit again) but I do agree staggered day endings make a lot of sense to balance out end-of-day availability. Brick had expressed hesitation due to the difficulty of being online at deadline, but one could just ban any posts post-deadline and then night duration can just be adjusted based on when he gets back online.

I think this has more to do with the sheer numbers of players rather then day length.

I wouldn't mind trialing 24/36h days. Less daytime = less posts = less catching up to do, which a number of players have called out is a problem.

I think instead of picking a different timeframe for days, or making days shorter at a specific point, that trying to use Hammer Voting rules might be a better alternative.

In short: Instead of the day ending every 48 hours, the day ends as soon as any one player reaches greater than 50% of the votes available for that day. So days where there is a lot of discussion and back-and-forth have time to do that, days where everyone is agreed on a target go fast, and no one is at a every-day disadvantage due to timezones. The flip side is players need to be on top of keeping an accurate vote tally running, and as soon as that > 50% mark is reached they have to be diligent about not posting until a moderator can come resolve the day.

Did we ever try hammer voting? I feel like I remember we did a long time ago, and liked it even less than deadline voting. It has all the same speedy-reaction problems, except worse since it can happen any time around the clock; at least a deadline makes you know when to look for it.

As a different suggestion from either - do online werewolf games ever use a hidden/simultaneous voting procedure? Votes are made privately to the GM who then reveals them all together after the vote (either after a fixed deadline or when a hammer condition is met.) That's how it works for in-person games, voting is done by everyone pointing simultaneously. That would get rid of the deadline camping entirely, since the votes aren't public yet so everyone doesn't need to react to them.

We have used that for One Night Werewolf games

Welcome Rowain. So what's your take, beyond the inevitable "town is screwed" ?

I hope Meiz is town else he isa such a big asshole that I don't know if I want to play with him more. What he did to pindi and the sunrise is only excusable if he meant it honstely and not as cheap way to win.

Besides from that I would go with GES and Gaspar as scum.

If Gaspar lives today, I don’t think it matters if the village hangs a scum or not, Gaspar will survive to the end and win.

It’s 100% Gaspar as one of the two scum. I’m not sure who the other one is (Jabbz making sure sunrise hangs doesn’t look good, there’s a bunch of possible second wolves).
