RB Pitboss #2 [SPOILERS] - Iamjohn, Kodii & Zeviz

Looked in our email account- we got the "hello" message from Regoarrar(see previous post):

Hi IKZ triumverate!

It appears that we have met your fine civ over the interturn. So I thought I would at least drop you a quick note introducing myself. I am regoarrarr and will probably be your main point of contact to the Byzantine empire. Not a whole lot to talk about in the early game, but as a show of good faith, I will let you know that we come from the north of where we met Metterich (I might have mis-remembered the name) and we have met one other civ (Greece) before you guys.

So there are at least 3 civs on our landmass (if it's not a big panagea anyways). Would you care to reciprocate - where you guys are located? Or have you met the Greeks or anyone else? I understand that early on it's hard to know who to trust or how much information you want to share. So if you feel like you need to be vague I understand. My personal feeling is the more open, the better, since many times the best and strongest alliances are made in the early game and it's never too soon to start that.

In any case, I hope to hear from you soon!

Aparently he doesn't remember Mortius, or at least the fact that we killed him...

Greece (leader Pacal II) is Jowy/Yazilliclick, and Regoarrarr is Peter of Byzantium.

Here's my thought for a reply-

Hey Dan/regoarrarr,

It's great to meet another civilization! Establishing diplomatic relations with everyone and communication with everyone is important in this game and I'm glad we were able to meet you. We are definitely interested in being open with each other- not only will we have a better relationship between our two teams, but we will also be more effective in reaching agreements that are more useful and effective to each other.

As for where we are geographically we are directly SW of where you are, around 10 tiles away. We have met Athlete/Kalin, who we are enjoying quite peaceful diplomatic relations with. Their cities' borders are only around 3 tiles west of your warrior Michal's current position- you should visit them before coming south towards us.

We also met Mortius, who met an unfortunate demise at the hands of our Quechua. We felt threatened by his civ/leader choice, and at the time decided that the only sure way to head off a rush from him was to eliminate him from the competition. It was an unfortunate occurrence and one that occurred only with severe debate. We did what we had to do and we probably wouldn't change our decision if we could, but it was frustrating nonetheless.

In any case we are quite happy to meet your civilization- Are you interested in some sort of NAP? You seem at least mostly removed from our borders, I look forward to many years of friendship.

I got the impression from reading his diplomacy in the other game that he like to be forthright, and other people to be forthright as well. What do you guys think? Should we be this open about civ placement? I don't think we really have a choice on whether or not to mention Athlete/Kalin as they'll meet soon anyway, and this way we'll get some brownie points with Athlete and Kalin, who seem kinda desperate to meet people (and look to have chosen the wrong way to explore) when we tell them that we told Regoarrarr to move towards their borders, and is only a couple turns away.

Another thing I was more conflicted about is Mortius. What do you guys think we should (or shouldn't) say about it? I'm not sure how defensive we want to play it. :/

We really needed to respond to Athlete's latest email from four days ago

Hello Everybody,

Thank you for the map information. You weren't kidding about the animals as we've already run into a bear. Hopefully the RNG continue to be kind. We have seen land across the coast as well but have yet to see any type of land connection to it.

The message I was referring to was the one from 7 days ago so thank you for the response to it. It's great to know there's another civ near to the ruined Zulu civilization as it appears we have no other direction to scout.
In regards to an NAP I do not have anything specific in mind as of yet. I consider given our previous communications and unit movements that we are both genuinely interested in peace. We have set about to scout the land between us and as such will wish to discuss that land at some point in the near future. At the very least I feel we should atleast inform each other on settling intentions. As to our own we haven't committed to anywhere's yet (due to the lack of scouting between us) but are leaning to head westward at the moment.

Do you have any ideas about what you might want from an NAP at this time? Anything you want to add about future settlements? Anything I may have missed you wish to discuss?

Sorry for the wait for a response, you'd think the weekend would equal more time, but that's apparently not always the case.

We as well are still formulating/laughing at/discussing ideas as to where we want to settle. We seem remarkably good at putting up signs saying "Settle?" though!. In all seriousness however it looks like our immediate priority will be settling west of us, with only a couple cities at most between the two of us. There's no one collective decision however. Do you have some sort of proposal in regards to a settling agreement? We are definitely willing to work with you.

In regards to a NAP, we are interested in a longer term NAP, what would you consider to be an appropriate length?

Also, we thought you'd like to know that we recently met regoarrarr's warrior a little west of you. We sent alongside our formal greetings a recommendation that he move west to you. If he follows our advice he should meet your borders in around 4 or 5 turns. Who said the Ottomans weren't great matchmakers?

Looks like you've uncovered a lot of the map already - nice scouting. But if those screenshots are oriented the usual way, it looks like you met regoarrarr west of Athlete, not east?

Yeah really great - sending the Byzantine scout west instead of east, locating your capital 20 tiles from its actual position, telling the Incans that there is a scout to their east.

It's interesting to note that it takes quite a bit less eps to accomplish passive espionage against regoarrarr then it does against A/K, is this indicative of a lower pop, or what? When I get time I'm going to have to research that.

I think it's because they have more EPs against us.
