The war with the Byzantines is going rather well, but we are still not quite done yet. We were able to take their second city Endor (formerly Paris) that was bordering our capital.

We have received from them a perplexing message in which they are asking us for concessions to get peace. They are also saying that they can make sure that we don't win either. We expect them to try to poison other people against us. We are open and ready to address any questions you may have.

We also want to apologize that because of this war, we seem to be running full 24-hour turns. The Byzantines completely ignored our many requests to split the turn in a reasonable way, and they appear to us to be running the clock on purpose.

We wish you best of luck in your endeavors and we seek friendly and mutually beneficial relations.

We still have not made contact with the Byzantines, but if we do, you can expect that we will not come to their aid since you met us first and have been friendly since. It seems we're closer that I would've hoped for. We can see the Lake and also the Deer. and we've planned our city to be directly South (2) from the Lake that would collect the deer. We could both settle the positions we like most, but our border cities would be quite close to each other. Please let me know, if this would be alright to you.

Assuming our cities will be close to each other I suggest long NAP so that we can both establish the border cities. I'm alright with 75 turns.

Concerning diplomatic situation we've opened discussion with all the nations we've met. Rome does seem a bit agressive, but we've had good dialogue. Ottomans have been friendly, but they are quite far so we haven't had that much communication yet.

This morning Whosit the Galaractic Emperor also known as the Scumbag of the Universe moved his troops over the border of peaceful Korea in extremely traitorous manner.

Non agression pact (NAP) wasn't hindrance when his spearmans moved at unnatural speed through the mountains to capture our worker.

What makes it even more disgusting is that just 4 days ago he sent us this:
"war between our peoples would be mutually destructive and I recognize the necessity to remain at peace."

The word of Whosit is worth nothing. I urge everyone to stand up and assist us all possible ways before Praetorians start to March through the streets of Seoul. Needless to say it should be in everyones intrest to slow down the progress of Galtaciti Emprire before it gets too strong.

You're free to spread this message to all the civilizations of this planet and as said we would appreciate any help you could give.

If what you said is true (the worker steal with the NAP in place), then that is an extremely dishonorable act. Whosit in his greeting to us said that he had reason to believe that you were building up your military. Right now, with the information we have in hand, I would have to trust you guys over the Galactic empire.

We are just about to connect our copper, so we should have some axemen ready shortly. In case you're in extreme danger (i.e., capital with praets 3 turns away), please let us know, and Nakor and I will see what we can do and if we can help you.

About your NAP proposal .... I like it. Let's do 75 turns. Right now it's turn 59 (or 60?) so how about we run the NAP until turn 135 (admittedly a long time, but again, we share a long bodrer). This way, you guys (and us as well) can be assured of having one border completely safe. Don't worry - we won't break a NAP.

About our cities ... yes, unfortunately we are very close. Perhaps we should just found the cities the way we have them planned and promise that we won't bombard them with culture? Later on, we can compare dotmaps and outline a border. What do you think? Our border will also depend on the order of cities that we and you plan to found. Is your deer city going to be your next (3rd or 4th) city? Our city near the lake is likely going to be our fourth city (we have 2 now - we are founding 1 at a different site shortly for site #3). Another alternative is that one of us agrees to withdraw that city, but in turn, give a city site to the other team somewhere north of the lake. Any ideas? Again, we want to remain friends with you guys.

One last thing - do you know where the Incas are at all? We are trying to set up a "map" of everyone. And I presume that Whosit is to your northeast?

As some of you may know, war has broken out between the Galactic Empire and the Korean Empire. I share this information in the interests of keeping all of the Empire's friends informed. Unfortunately, tensions have been growing between the Imperial and Korean people because our close borders have long caused unease. We have reason to believe that the Koreans are preparing for a large military buildup, so in order to defend our interests, the Empire has made the first strike. We urge caution to any who choose to visit the field of battle.

We do not expect this war will interfere with our normal diplomacy and hope to remain in good contact with you all. May the Force be with you.

Yes, we are aware of the war between the Glactic and Korean empire. We are very close to the Koreans, but do not have an alliance right now.

Do you plan on making an all-out strike to eliminate the Koreans, or will you just plan on harassing/pillaging them?

Just a small request (I do this to every team): when we have information shared between emails, can they be strictly confidential unless one of us tells the other that he/she wishes to inform another team?

Lastly, where are you relative to the Korean empire? We have not been able to explore past their direction just yet. I assume you are to the northeast of the Koreans, right?

Thoughts ...

This is turning out to be interesting. We are probably lucky in that our neighbor (koreans) are at war so we only have to worry about a front with Dantski, who we have a NAP with right now. I suggest we just keep playing the way we are and managing diplomacy wisely. Hopefully we can have peace with Dantski/Mali. I don't think we should be at war with anyone, especially since Dantski has skirmishers.

Dear DMOC,

It seems that Whosit is retreating from his aggression in this matter and giving the worker back to us. Negotiations are still going on, but I've high hopes they will be succesful. Whosit might be a bit inexperienced and maybe didn't take into account all the consequences of his actions so we'll be ready to forgive this mistake. We really appriciate your offer to assist us militarily. I hope that assistance isn't needed.

All your suggestions seem very reasonable:
* We accept 75 turns NAP
* Settling the cities as planned works for us, but we can also retreat a bit, if that opens up a better spot somewhere in the north. No culture war option would be very good. We'll try to map that area as soon as possible so that we can start negotiations. Please tell us well in advance when you're starting to settle that city so that we can negotiate details. The deer city is probably our 4th or 5th city.
* We don't know exact location of Inca, however LiPing former ruler of Rome did tell us that the Zulus were their closest neighbour in the east or North-east so I suspect they are somewhere there quite far from us and especially from you

We accept the NAP, effective to turn 135. How about this addendum: if one of us needs to break the NAP then let's have a 5-turn "cool-down" period where no war is allowed. Just an idea.

Okay, we will tell you when we're going to settle the city. Right now we're settling a spot well to the northwest of that city for our third city.

The Incas are probably far from us, as Rome and Korea are likely between us. Thanks for letting us know.
