Err nope, isn't that why you recruited me to help out while you were away? BTW, I decided to exclusively lurk your thread for this game (when I have the time), so I'm otherwise unspoiled if you need me to help out again.

We have a peace deal ...
Quote:Ruff,
OK so quickly
You agree to give us stone site (1E of stone).
We agree to give you 30 gold when currency is in.
We agree to move our units back to our land through the quickest route.
Both parties agree to an NAP to T100 inclusive.
Done?
Athlete for Team JANK
Quote:Agreed.
Where is that special little ring that I use to ink these formal arrangements.
Ruff
... and here is the chat leading to the above. I probably pissed athlete off a little bit with my insistence regarding getting it in writing but he better get use to that because he is going to get this sort of treatment from me all game long.
The 30g was payback for what they gained from pillaging and is probably pretty cheap. The direct route back is to stop them walking on India or Ottoman. I will tip Ottoman off regarding their route if they want to pick off some units .
Quote:- Ruff: hi there - who is this?
- JANK-Athlete: Athlete
just finished reading the e-mail
- Ruff: hi athlete - did you see my email back to you guys
- JANK-Athlete: ya...never read the chat...but saw the e-mail
- Ruff: Nakor and I had a brief discssion where I basically yelled at him
- JANK-Athlete: we might as well chat it out
lol
hopefully not too personal
- Ruff: go back and read chat - important
- JANK-Athlete: k gimme 2 min
- Ruff: np
- JANK-Athlete: k...up to date...that was a little bit more hostile then I would have thought...
no biggie
- Ruff: well - he did call me a liar and I am getting jack of that
- JANK-Athlete: shall we start discussing a fresh?
- Ruff: anyway
firstly - do you have authority to actually make a decision?
- JANK-Athlete: I don't think he called you a liar Ruff...that's a little much
yes I do
we'll get it ironed out here or not at all
- Ruff: I like the 2nd part
- JANK-Athlete:

- Ruff: do you have a list of what you want for peace?
ranging from bare minimum all the way up to asking for the moon?
- JANK-Athlete: well i'm not willing to give you anything if that's what you think...the same point you made about cities/workers...we'd be in the same boat maybe more
I read your arguements as to why you think you deserve compensation and they are valid...I don't disagree
however I believe while you have a short term advantage because the ottomans gave you help
- Ruff: this war wasn't my decision - you made the choice between war and expansion and chose war
- JANK-Athlete: in the long run we'll be able to control the field unless you receive continuous aid
re: choice
very true
- Ruff: let me come back to your comment
mega gaming it - I can afford to stay in a long term war
- JANK-Athlete: but we're also prepared to continue it and run us both to the ground
- Ruff: the rest of the tech alliance will drag me along
you and your smaller alliance need everyone pulling their tech weight
that said - I am pretty sure that I can get axes and spears up and ready to defend before you can get horses into my land
pretty sure ... make that very sure
- JANK-Athlete: oh I don't doubt you'll be able to defend yourself...with or without aid...but that's all it will be...and I don't think that will be much fun
and it will continue that way until somebody comes to either of our aids in a big way
- Ruff: true - and I think that my alliance can aid me more than your alliance can aid you
so - I think that peace is in both of our teams best interest
- JANK-Athlete: that sounds a bit overconfident to me...but we don't know what's going on in each others camps...so your last point is what we should focus on...it's in both of our best interests for peace
- Ruff: would you accept a straighy up peace offer?
- JANK-Athlete: give me one second...
- JANK-Athlete: I want settling rights to the stone that is 3S of the mountain range east of your capital...and a reasonable NAP...our city spot would be 1E of the stone...
this spot would be competitive under normal circumstances...i just want rights to it
- Ruff: so - you wouldn't accept a straight up peace deal?
- JANK-Athlete: I don't think so...
and this is considerably less then what Nakor was asking for...
- Ruff: 1) I am not willing to accept a striaght up peace offer either
2) we agreed that we would start afresh so don't bring up Nakor
you pillaged 2 farms and 1 mine - how much coin did you get for that?
- JANK-Athlete: the event log doesn't track that...if I remember correctly it was like 18 or so...
- Ruff: lets call it 20g ... at a minimum, I want 30g from you (when either of us gets currency)
- JANK-Athlete: so i agree to that and you agree to mine and we work out an nap and that's that?
or do you have anythign else in mind still?
- Ruff: 1 or 2 more
all of your units return via the most direct route to your land
- JANK-Athlete: that would probably mean skirting your border
- Ruff: I will want to look in game at that city location too
it would
- JANK-Athlete: you're logged in aren't you?
- Ruff: I was - got out
- JANK-Athlete: k np
you gonna check now?
- Ruff: will jump back in
- JANK-Athlete: k
- Ruff: back
you there?
- JANK-Athlete: yup
- Ruff: I can live with that city
finally ... I would like a uni-directional NAP
you sign a auto renewal NAP through to T140 with a 10 turn cancellation policy
I sign a auto renewal NAP through to T100 with a 10 turn cancellation policy with you
- JANK-Athlete: so your terms are 1) Money 2) units back to our borders asap 3) different naps for us?
- Ruff: and you get that city site
and we should prob put a time limit on it - it is free game if unclaimed by T110?
- JANK-Athlete: I think this is something we can work from...I kind of went straight to what I'd settle for though so we gotta work on your side a bit...
I can live with that timelimit
your #2
let me get some clarification
Our units just have to take the quickest route back to our lands
at one point south of your second city I can go NE or SE...so long as the unit in question moves towards our lands it doesn't matter which one I take right?
- Ruff: well - if your land is generally N, then they should go NE but if your land is generally just E, then - yes - either NE oir SE is ok by me
- JANK-Athlete: k
#3 is unacceptable to me...we will have an equal NAP
or no more then a 10 turn difference
- Ruff: the reason I am asking for different durations is that I have proven myself trustworth and your team has not
- JANK-Athlete: i'd disagree with you there...we never had any deal in place or anything when we attacked...we never mislead you or anything that I'm aware of
- Ruff: this is a para-phrase ...
"sure - lets talk about a NAP ... T75 is a bit long, how about something shorter"
(little does he know that we are about to declare on him - hee hee)
- JANK-Athlete: lol
I had forgotten that...ok point taken...
- Ruff: you guys had no intention of signing any length NAP and you knew it
- JANK-Athlete: still we never had an agreement and anybody who can read civstats or demogs or anything could see what we were planning
we weren't exactly surprised when you knew it...just disappointed
well we'll honour any NAP we agree upon
once the deal is made it's made...if no deal is in place though then really anything goes
it's not like you could expect us to declare outright saying hey were gonna come attack u
this is a strategy game after all
- Ruff: ok - so, let me summarize
Inca: We honour our inked deals but don't believe anything else that we ever say
what turn is it now?
T63
- JANK-Athlete: that's a harsh interpretation
- Ruff: maybe - but it the one that I have to take away from this dicussion
NAP - you thru to T95, me through to T85 with an auto renewal and a 10 turn cancellation policy
- JANK-Athlete: If our timelimit is T110 for settling that stone site...I want an NAP through to T110...I guess that would mean you'd get one through to T120
- Ruff: T110 was a suggestion
pull it back to T95?
- JANK-Athlete: no T110 will catch up too quickly...definitely no sooner than that
- Ruff: a T110 NAP is too long at the moment
thinking about it - NAPs of different durations aren't worth very much
I cancel on T73 and you know I am coming for you on T85 anyway
- JANK-Athlete: decidedly so...you initially offered T110 to me didn't you...so lets stick with that...A flat NAP to T110...as it gets closer to T110 we can negotiate one further from there if we think we should
we being you and a JANK member
- Ruff: it was T100 with you at T140
- JANK-Athlete: hmmm...ok then...well I suppose I could meet you there T100...but we still have settling rights by T110...just in case you don't declare war
- Ruff: I can't see a T110 reference apart from the city settlement limit
- JANK-Athlete: we can make it a flat or auto renew with coold own...doesn't matter to me
- Ruff: how about T95 with 10 turn cancellation and auto renewal (ie minimum 10 turn cancel after T85)
that is 32 turns from now minimum
- JANK-Athlete: T100...it's only 5 turns and easier to remember...or T95 with your #1 only being 20 gold instead of 30
- Ruff: T100 is fine
want to summarize our agreement in an email so I have it in writing?
- JANK-Athlete: quickly here and then a more formal e-mail later tonight when i have time...#1) we give you 20 gold when currency comes in
#2) units back to our territory
#3) NAP to T100 inclusive
and you agree to the stone site for us
- Ruff: 30g
- JANK-Athlete: sorry ya 30
- Ruff: shortest route back home
and specify stone city location
- JANK-Athlete: 1E of stone
will specify in e-mail
- Ruff: yeah - just put it inthe email
ok - we signing peace in game then?
- JANK-Athlete: sure
- Ruff: actually - sorty to be a sticklier for this
can I get that in an email first
- JANK-Athlete: seriosly?
I don't have time for it right now
is there a particular reason?
- Ruff: didn't you see my post above?
don't worry - I won't kill your units if the turn rolls and you haven't sent me that email
- JANK-Athlete: sent you the e-mail
- Ruff: reply sent (done)
- JANK-Athlete: k in game?
Here is what happened to their units ...
... and that city location ...

I note that was a completely different condition than anything they'd mentioned previously. That site is just 6tiles from your capital, is that the same distance from theirs as well?
Oh, and don't trust athlete, he's a dirty double-dealing NAP-breaker! (and you should remind him of that in your next negotiations)

yes it is - and probably a little more than from their capital ... but it is not easy to defend - 2 movers can attack it diagonally without crossing a river. My capital is pretty hard to get at from the east.
what are they going to do with the stone - build me a wonder?

I popped a hut this morning and got a map. I was trying to add that old paper background to it but the gimp image size blew up to 36mb ... decided to just post what I have ...

I've added the Ottomans and HRE maps to my map above. When I get India and Egypt's, I post a combined map.

Who set this map up again? He must have installed the special bionic barb mod. I've heard that some people lost units to really unlucky rolls and stuff. Here is the barb that killed my archer ...
... and here is 'Find Portugal' being pretty lucky given how this game has gone ... this is defending in a forest with the barb coming across the river!
