CH approaching Theros

Stack only has 5 hitters though, so I'm going to try and take them out.

Oh wow everything is unguarded too

Lose 2 70% fights, then win 3 90% fights, so now only 2 hitters left, have 4 units in Theros.

Seriously, this looks like CH's last legs

Also, final note, got Lorwyn and liking these whales down here

2 random notes of the day:

1) Forgot to mention, back on top of the scoreboard. Happy day! dancing

2) Tech path after getting as many as first-to bonuses as possible is up in the air. Options being considered are:

-->Democracy. The peaceable route. Will boost my production and allow a switch to universal suffrage right as I start to have meaningfully large numbers of towns. Rush-buying can also be pretty great. And perhaps most importantly, the SoL is awesome.

-->Steel. I certainly need gunpowder in any case, then chemistry->steel for cannons. Cannons seemingly have no counter until Cuirs (and obviously even when there are cuirs they are still sick collateral). Except actually an anti-seige promoted knight can take them down, and those aren't THAT hard to come by. The cannon's greatest attribute is therefore the collateral immunity, 12 strength units that can't be collateralled are a pain to fight against until Cavalry.

--> Mil Trad. Cav/Cuirs with Gunpowder/Rifling. Keep up my 2-mover strategy. Where I'm leaning right now, coupled with...

-->Rifling. I want Printing press and replaceable parts for the tile yields, and 2 good econ techs leading into great military tech is a tempting beeline. Vague plan (not at all attached to) right now is something like going:
Printing Press, Aesthetics, Literature, Music, Gunpowder, Mil Trad, Rep Parts, Rifling. Which seems like a lot, but 3 of those techs will be 1-turned and Gunpowder something like 2-3 turned.

Final thing to keep is mind is while I want to delay Astro as long as possible, once a neighbor starts going for it I probably need to suck it up and get Astro ASAP.

I lost a 70% shot to take Rath

CH wiped my stack of 4 knights at the cost of most of his cats. I took out the remaining open cats, axes, and 'phants with my remaining knights.

This leaves CH with 1 injured 'phant in Rath, and 1 archer 2 cats in Kamigawa. He also didn't whip this turn, so that's all he'll have next turn as well (probably). Final shot of the battlefield is below, should kill him next turn

Ok, here's the promised long post. It's for this turn, not last.

Going through empire shots per commodore's request

The central region, Old New England. Lots of commerce from here, and I'm basically working every tile, so despite the fact the cities are still growing I don't have a ton of places to put the citizens. This is the part of the game where land area starts to become more important than city number

The overseas possessions. These have become rather productive. I'm working like the whole Channel, which is a ton of commerce with colossus, and the overseas cities have pretty high hammer counts.

Northern reaches. You can see the colossus city of edelman here, finally getting its lighthouse

The neck, former whosit land. This is the vulnerable lynchpin of the empire. A successful krovice strike here could cut me in two and make defending near impossible. Willow is on it's way to becoming an excellent city, as you'd expect of a former capital spot

Northern CH land, still rebuilding. Tarkir is going to become my NE city. Theros will probably receive the Forbidden Palace (less attached to Theros in particular, but something around here.

Southern CH land. Just took those last two cities on the east. Cept CH last minute founded a city... somewhere to keep himself alive. rant

In actuality I think moves like that are pretty cool, though annoying for me in this instance cause war weariness and motherland unhappy. I offered peace, can't imagine he accepts, no real incentive

I suspect the last city must be somewhere over here, can't see where else he could have sent a settler without me noticing (or really, just where else, everything else around CH is taken)

Anddd, going back to Wilfork... look at that Shrine

Shot of whole empire

Yeah it'll look a lot prettier once CH and whosit are dead. Still hilariously (and dangerously) shaped.

Upped liberalism ETA by 1 turn with the capture gold from the last 2 CH cities

Looking at the tech situation, I think i have to give up on the Taj and take Econ. I can't risk losing the econ merchant, needed for the matching pair for the golden age, and Finharry is sitting on gold stockpiles and some unknown amount of education researched. And has research visibility on me, if not city visibility (should check those ratios).

Lack of map trading might start to have an impact here as you search for that last zulu city. alright

Edelman isnt really a collosus... more of a small guy. None of the wonders really scream 'slot receiver' though. Well maybe:colossus is mostly invisible but lifts the whole team... thumbsup

I still think you should name conquered players after opposing nfl players. Like Dolphins for Viking and Bills for Zulu.

I like the idea, I think i'll do that should I rename cities, but I'm still think I like keeping the original naming schemes, an immediate visual reminder of long past wars (well, recently past as of now, long past in the future).

Edelman is a colossus in heart... if certainly not stature lol He might be my fav pats player, perfect example of a hardworking guy just doing w/e the team needs for years to little aclaim. I'm glad he's getting his chance in the limelight.

News of the turn, got liberalism, took economics. Next turn I'll shoot off a golden age and revolt to Pacificism (probably GNP neutral) and Free market (GNP bonanza). That and the golden age itself mean I should be putting up pretty sweet numbers next turn.

1 turning alphabet, right now printing press takes 4 turns, I imagine with free market + golden age it'll be 3 with overflow. That's another GNP boost. Then I'll 1 turn Aesthetics and Lit. After that I'll have the important econ techs / cheap backfill so I'll reevaluate tech choices, but going Music, Gunpowder, Nationalism, Mil Trad, Replaceable Parts, Rifling seems promising (perhaps move Replaceable parts further up int he chain if I don't intend to build Cuirs in the meantime). For having a UU musket I'l be obsoleting it pretty fast, but don't want to let that deter me.

Other possibilities:
Constitution line for civics (US or Rep) and Corporation (Wall Street and trade routes)
Chemistry line for cannon
Astronomy line for naval power

Random shot of the central cities just to have a picture:

Death of whosit makes this much prettier:
