[Spoilers PB27] REM tries to get a handle on this mod

Communism lost the Gspy in Tides of War but I thought it still had it in RtR?

It's not on the civilopaedia entry nor f6 screen. Whilst I know these aren't always up to date, it would seem strange to remove it without changing it. I suppose I should test it now... Rather need that for easy access to a 3 person GA

Yeah just tested and it has gone cry Still events have unfolded extremely in my favour once again so cannot complain too much!

That's strange, might actually be a bug, I don't see it in the changelog. I agree it doesn't seem necessary in RtR with the improved FM and Merc.

For things like that, the civpedia entry is almost always correct (it automatically updates when you change XML values). Only Python and SDK changes need handwritten documentation. However, reading through the changelogs in the RtR forum, I can't seem to find any mention of this change at all, except for some very early-on posts about removing Espionage from the game entirely (http://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/showt...2#pid89375). It doesn't look like the Golden Age consequences were discussed at all.

I couldn't find documentation of it either which is why I asked.

But the Ga woe is more for me as I have most cities running a free GS with a RI, and also if not in caste it IS awkward to get enough non GM GS slots easily to make a different GP. I can probably get a mixture of others but it will be awkward. And not easy! I guess like the moai a random unintended change then? If it is a true bug should it be mentioned in the tech thread?

I can confirm the GSpy is still there in 2.0.7.6, which was the last 2.x version, so this is just another surprise for us, like the Moai and GGs!

I agree that there's no need to remove it in RtR. (then again, I didn't see a need to remove it in ToW either, with State Property nerfed into nothingness)

It's annoying as I probably would have got him but it does make it a rather missable tech for me now. On to Steam power and beyond! Physics is cripplingly expensive here at 12000 beakers... The tech scaling makes it rather inefficient to beeline. Still have to decide between assembly line or railroad. Assembly line for a huge plus when it seemed less likely I would be attacked soon making cheap factories more appealing, and who doesn't want to be using infantry when others aren't at rifles (or gunpowder in some cases!) but railroad early will make the colonial workers more efficient getting railroads straight off.

OU built using a few citizens to get the last hammers out to speed it up a turn. Definitely worth it, worth about 120-150 beakers a turn depending on slider, and I will now starve the city rather than working the 2/0/2 lake to get as many scientists running in here as possible! Also after getting corp for those routes, I will get a turn of gold to give taotao the creeps that I will pile in with upgrades but actually to run OU on a higher slider for longer. That's done using the elephant forest and making it a cottage to get the most from the national wonder.

Still not sure whether it is worth a pile in, really the main benefit would be to prevent him killing DZ and for me take the new islands we are both sharing. Really I would need a few frigates to protect my waters, and more units. I might show him my cossack stack (only 10) to make him paranoid... XD

Not convinced of the DZ plan. Timing wise probably would have been better pre killing Fenn. Taotao would have had much more limited mobility then. Or if he was gonna wait use his ancient trash to pound the damaged stack. Instead he seems to have taken a rather lightly defended old incan city in the middle of their messy border and that is about it... It won't take long for taotao to turn his stack around, and he will have his own rifles in a turn albeit no cavalry. Pro redcoats cannot do a rokes drift everywhere - they will fall to 3 odd knights especially on the flat.

Just checked CivStats as I thought we were due a turn and wow! DZ is not holding back - 2 more cities to England from inca.

I really like how this game is turning out. I am basically being given a free ride to industrialise my core and DZ is ruining the GA that taotao sprung either this or last turn when I checked in.

Still he will be facing rifles as of next turn and whilst taotao is in GA 3 odd times more producing power than he has. Hopefully he will kill the injured Knights, and perhaps get into the draft to counter his more mfg currently...

Moving along nicely still. I'm at full tech and have enough gold to sustain this for 6-7 turns currently. My full tech research without preresquites gives me a GNP of 4500, compared to 2nd best (I assume taotao in golden age) which is 3800 and does include 3 8% KTBs I believe. Very favourable looking to the long term. My new OU size 20 cap is now making 450 sci/turn

However there has been a push in the recent turns for most players to pick up constitution. I hope this is in response to seeing my GNP and wanting to replicate what I have been doing, and not to try and take the SoL. Gavagi and Dtay both need to get to paper and printing press before being allowed to go for democracy. Taotao and DZ can both go for it and thankfully are both in their very hot war, and even if they did go for it (DZ has a lot of towns that would probably benefit from a US civic) I doubt they could spare 1500 hammers in a city currently.

I however have my halfway built IW city with a lovely base 49hpt currently with only 1 dead tile in its radius and 2 others that are not rivered! It will explode with a levee with currently an extra 15hpt. It also has a forest chop available. It actually probably will be quicker to get a levee, then finish the IW before going for the SoL with the extra hammers I will receive. So at its current size 14 with a levee it will move to 64 base hpt and then with the IW and a forge go to 144, or 176 with the wonder resource multiplier! If this goes to space then here will be building most, if not all of the spaceship parts.

The decision is - do I join the war? I think taotao has turned the tide, and is now pushing DZ back. I don't think even with cannon he will be able to make much headway into his core. DZ went to FRee Speech so is making a good 10/11 commerce per town and 15% extra gold and is saving on MT. He could easily be planning a mass upgrade to pro redcoats that would be a massive ball ache to wade through. I have donated happy for spares currently.

I am also gonna move a small stack of 10-12 Cossacks into his interior to use in case taotao starts to get into his main areas. Other than that I am lining up trying to get a few galleons and island troops ready for a possible attack in 3-4 turns for a fast 1st war turn, where I will hopefully be able to take a few of the island between us cities (I can strike from the black) and both our shared island as well as the FP city.

But I am still weighing up whether it is worth attacking him when he does still have numerical superiority and a very good MFG that can now spam rifles and make any war a bit of a slug. If it kills any of his chance to win it will also likely turn into a until death war which could allow dtay in the east to catch up. The coastal cities on the islands would require a lot of supervision then which I would rather not have to do...

I guess the lurkers would like to see blood but is it the right thing to do... If gifting were on I would happily give DZ my Cossacks and let him run riot tongue
