Are you, in fact, a pregnant lady who lives in the apartment next door to Superdeath's parents? - Commodore

Following up that, we can actually probably work an extra merchant turn (5 merchants) on T244, since the food is all going to go waste on T245 anyways.

In Guido Sarducci, I worked the 2 clams, corn, plains cow and grass farm which gave us 24 food, allowing 7 artists for 63 GPP/t at breakeven food.

T237: 702 / 900, +63 GPP/t
T238: 763 / 900, +63
T239: 826 / 900, +42 (lose Pacifism)
T240: 868 / 900

At that point we probably want to go max food, in preparation for the Globe. Maybe work 1 spec / turn so that T246 when we pop the merchant out of Guido we're as close as possible to 900. It will probably take 3-4 turns of death camps in Guido to pop our 1000 GPP person

For Church Lady,
T237: 548 / 900, +108 GPP/t
T238: 656 / 900
T239: 764 / 900, drop to 81 GPP/t with the loss of Pacifism
T240: 845 / 900

So we are going to need to delay Church Lady some also - we could fire 2 scientists to the 2 grass hills and of course working coast is an option. I've fired 2 scientists and put them on the 1/5/0 grass hills for this turn (we're still making 84 GPP/t)

Turn rolled. I played and moved things along. I actually put all of our EP on Nakor, which will get us his research at EOT. Did this for 2 reasons

1) Krill did not put any EPs on us this turn. So I thought I'd show him some reciprocation

2) Nakor has a GNP ahead of ours still, so it may be that he will discover a tech soon and it would be nice to not research the same thing. If I had to guess he'd go for Steel

Krill has a few cannons on our border now.

One other thing that that I forgot to mention with the turn is that Scooter again offered 1200g for Steam + Communism, and I again demurred.

The other weird thing is that according to CivStats, both Scooter (last turn) and Commodore (this turn) have gotten mid-turn 8 point score increases that I can not explain.

In addition to that 8 point gain, Commodore also got an 18 point gain (a tech I assume?) and then a 2 point gain (city), all mid-turn

18 pts is a medieval era tech... are there any of those that can be traded?

The only ones he doesn't have are

Philosophy
Theology

none of which can be traded.

But what's the 8 point?!?

Could the 8 points be land area or four 1-2 pop growths?
Merovech's Mapmaking Guidelines:
0. Player Requests: The player's requests take precedence, even if they contradict the following guidelines.

1. Balance: The map must be balanced, both in regards to land quality and availability and in regards to special civilization features. A map may be wonderfully unique and surprising, but, if it is unbalanced, the game will suffer and the player's enjoyment will not be as high as it could be.

2. Identity and Enjoyment: The map should be interesting to play at all levels, from city placement and management to the border-created interactions between civilizations, and should include varied terrain. Flavor should enhance the inherent pleasure resulting from the underlying tile arrangements. The map should not be exceedingly lush, but it is better to err on the lush side than on the poor side when placing terrain.

3. Feel (Avoiding Gimmicks): The map should not be overwhelmed or dominated by the mapmaker's flavor. Embellishment of the map through the use of special improvements, barbarian units, and abnormal terrain can enhance the identity and enjoyment of the map, but should take a backseat to the more normal aspects of the map. The game should usually not revolve around the flavor, but merely be accented by it.

4. Realism: Where possible, the terrain of the map should be realistic. Jungles on desert tiles, or even next to desert tiles, should therefore have a very specific reason for existing. Rivers should run downhill or across level ground into bodies of water. Irrigated terrain should have a higher grassland to plains ratio than dry terrain. Mountain chains should cast rain shadows. Islands, mountains, and peninsulas should follow logical plate tectonics.

Maybe a bulb? And can we rule out stealing tech? Let's check his tech's next log in and see if he has a new medieval one.

Ummm.... Captured barb city? It'd have to be pretty good size though. I know there's that barb city on the islands north of scooter. Commodore would have to be feeling pretty daring to go after those, but in his position I may try for it myself.

Are there any events that would influence population?

I don't know how it could be either of those things mid-turn. It can't be 4 1 pop growths unless it was like Hanging Gardens style, where you get them all at once.

At turn start his score was 1224, so it was an 8 point increase 2 minutes after he logged in, then later an 18 and a 2.

Well we figured out where the 18 point increase came from

It's kind of annoying but it doesn't really HURT us. We can't trade Philosophy, and we don't lose it. Commodore used his GSpy to infiltrate us - so he has 2070EPs on us right now, meaning that Philosophy cost him about 1000 EP. We could run a counter EP mission on him, which would cost 79 EP.

Speaking of EP, it shows that we have enough EPs on Nakor to see his research, but it doesn't show anything. Ah I see that he just teched Constitution.

Krill teched Military Tradition :-(
