Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

[SPOILERS] TT tries yet again to not be terrible

ok im looking around.

first thought is - eek, you have cities in unhappy due to no garrisons. build some archers man, haha.

business cat and success kid especially. golden age or not, theres no reason for business cat not to be working the rice. its size 7 and once the 1 whip unhappy wears off you can grow it to size 11 (bigger once we build the notre dame). i put signs up - i think you should move the nearby spear and axe into those two cities and leave them there until you can get an archer for garrison.

see you were able to pick up some happies. thats good. we still need notre dame. where are you planning to build it?

im not sure about a second golden age. hows this for an alternative: liberalism.
jowy is going after AT. we need paper. AT will need engineering to defend vs jowy. i would offer to trade him engineering for paper and compass as soon as you have it. you are IND and have stone,s o he won't beat us to notre dame. and its no tech brokering, so he won't be able to trade it around. its a win win, and we keep those 2 bogged up in a war, don't have to worry about jowy running over him.

if for some reason he refuses, he'll accept it as soon as jowy attacks lol
then use the great scientists to partially bulb education, and make a run at liberalism. I think grabbing liberalism for an easy Taj and a free MOM powered golden age is better than using it now.

I like the idea of going to war w/ 2 metra - but there's no rush. still plenty of cities to settle. Jowy MIGHT prove a better target when we're ready, or met might have knights or gunpowder.

also, for new cities - more farms, less cottages. we're gonna have lots of happy soon, w/ gems soon to be hooked up and the notre dame - we can grow cities tall now smile

The unhappy is due to a reshuffle of forces just to ensure everything is protected in the best manner.

I knock the food off so that a turn or so of cottage growth happens without affecting how fast the city grows.

Notre Dame will probably be built in the capital because of the extra Bureau bonus and I may swap back into Org Rel after the 2nd GP comes out.

On selling Engineering to AT, I'd rather not do that before Jowy can do a bit of damage or lose some of his stack. We give it to him too soon and he could turn on us instead. Plus, more desperation = potentially greater return on selling it.

I'm looking at farms nearly everywhere for happy and the extra specialists we could then use.

Our second GP was an Artist.

I have swapped back to Org Rel to get to work on Notre Dame, should be done in 7 turns from now.

Got offered Paper & Compass for Engineering by AT - rejected it for now because Jowy's army has only just moved in and I don't want to give him an excuse to give white peace and come for us.

Took a punt at trying to extort Feudalism and Paper for Engineering from AT just to see how desperate he was.

And he took it!

Our lingering Great Scientist can now bulb a significant portion of Education. Our Artist can only do a portion of Divine Right (which we may want later anyway, as I am planning an Apostolic Palace build for the extra hammers for our buildings and can then cash in with Spiral Minaret)

I'm still not sure what is the best path, and we may have pissed off Jowy with this trade but it was too good not to try for

yes, thats awesome. feudalism def better than compass.

I think Jowy will still have fun - its not like pikes instantly appear with engineering tech, you still have to churn them out smile. even if jowy gets upset, you can now build longbows AND pikes - who cares, hehe.

I think our immediate path is obvious - use the great scientist on education (you can save cash a few turns first if need be), then go edu-lib and lib nationalism. with a large head start you can build the taj easily, even without IND or marble. then a free MOM powered golden age smile.

I would hang on to the artist for now. more than likely you'll want it for a 2 person golden age, and I doubt anyone's going to research divine right any time soon, so you don't need to decide for now. any chance you will get a 2nd scientist beore the golden age is out? then you could keep the research a 0% on whatever tech you wanted, double bulb education, then turn it up to power through liberalism smile.

Drafting Musketeers + mass whipping Knights is one of the most fun ways to play. It's cheat mode basically.

ok.. TT we HAVE to do this. we are only 5 techs away, I think? no need to go to war before these units are unlocked.
easy plan:

use scientists to speed up education (bulb). research education--liberalism before anyone else. get nationalism with free tech. build taj at leisure (well, as fast as possible obviously, but we shouldnt have to worry about being beat).
then drama (for globe theatre in highest food city) --> guilds ---> gunpowder (bonus pre-req discount on gunpowder). with knights and muskateers, slavery and nationalism, we can basically choose which one of our neighbors we want to absorb. maybe 2 of them.. ninja and azza? jowy AND at, after they are weak from their war? whee, won't that be fun smile.

Well I am well on the way with Education - will be done in 3 turns (bulb has gone in) and then I will head onto Lib.

Bear in mind that the Golden Age ends in 4 turns so our research speed will be hurt a bit.

Notre Dame due in 5 as well.

Lets not get carried away with Musketeers & Knights being an easy conquest option. There is tech trading which will prop them up if I do too well (see how Azza is still alive now...) plus we'd still need some siege which would slow us down.

Wowzers - Jowy just got spanked... AT picked up 2 great generals on this turn and Jowy got none. I'm guessing he lost pretty much everything for nothing.

He's in Caste too (bizarrely) so he could be counter attacked. I am tempted to send our stack at them but its probably not worth the risk, especially as our 3 biggest hammer cities are occupied with the AP, Notre Dame and Wealth so we store gold for our Liberalism run.

I'm thinking of a quick bump in to pacifism once Notre Dame is secure - we could churn out another GP quickly and then we can have another golden age which I think would be very useful to keep up to speed for Lib as people will notice what I'm doing when they see education up for trade.

*NOTE: The entry in Civstats after the uploader connected at 9:45 saying TT has ended turn is NOT correct. TT will need to make sure to replay.

this is probably accurate. last person playing on a reload tends to have some stuff undone. You should probably log in and make sure everything is finished.
