Game is very slow, only a couple turns has passed. Basically, I'm ripping Zanth apart, took three cities from him by now, and Hum DOWed Furungy. This is the best thing he could do from my perspective - much more dangerous alternatives were stealing Zanth's core from me or burning Kitezh.

This is how my western front currently looks like. Operation "Grond" turned out to be more succesfull than I expected. I never thought I would be able to keep offensive rolling at this point but I actually can. This happened mostly due to fallacious strategy which Zanth has chosen: he leaves large stacks in every city instead of retreating and building up a SoD to face me when he is ready. This way he is losing way more units than he should. I think that after just a few more cities I will break a point of no return after which he is unable to stabilize. Can it really happen? Is it possible for me to conquer the largest (before war) empire in the world in the course of a one campaign? Really, is it? Observe my happiness. This is what I have at 30% culture. As you can see, I will finish few Pavillions next turn. Also, I will reconnect Icense in two turns, open up Jails in five and in something like 10 turns I will have Dyes and Sugar connected after conquered cities come out of revolt. But will it be enough? In largest cities I'm now getting an additional unhappy face almost every turn. I don't think I ever had that much trouble from WW - probably because I never waged wars on such a grand scale while having so few happiness resources. Also, I sent an Airship to check out what Hum is doing: There are a lot of wounded units in Hum's stack and no retreating units for Furungy. It looks like he is commiting the same mistake as Zanth. However, I'm cautiously optimistic about this war. I see only ten Infantries for Hum (including wounded ones) and for Furungy I count seven on this picture only. Also, Furungy is in Nationhood in contrast to Zanth. And Hum has only one Cannon here.

That deficit at 30% spending is scary, how much have you been taking from Zanth cities?
Looks like you've taken a pretty poor start and turned it into a strong position here Gavagay, I really enjoy your reports too (June 9th, 2014, 17:42)Hashoosh Wrote: That deficit at 30% spending is scary, how much have you been taking from Zanth cities? I'm taking quite a lot of loot, something like 100-200 gold per city. I had a very long turn which took me 2 days to play. I captured two more cities from Zanth and after that had to decide if I keep pushing forward or wait for reinforcements. Zanth researched RR and killed my super-medic with his own super-medic. This last thing, actually, matters a lot. Ultimately I decided that pushing forward by land is now too dangerous as Zanth has a lotm of collateral and is quickly accumulating hitters. I will bring some ships to the sourthern shore and will try to flank him by sea (pictures later). Also, I sank Bacchus fleet which he left unprotected in the fort.
I actually sent a letter to Hum, asking if he wants to end the game in a draw. It looks like it's not fun anymore for anyone except us and it doesn't look like we will have any natural resolution anytime soon.
Also, I think that draw will be a fair result as no one really deserved victory. I think I can win now but only because I have much more late game experience than other players. |
