Germany 2; Portugal 2. Germany are not as good as the very weak group made them look (Thanks Trap for thinking that Ireland were collectively a pile of shite and giving up on playing football before your first game in charge). Portugal are good enough to beat them, while conversely Germany are also good enough to win. So I'll split the difference.
Iran 1; Nigera 1. I don't know about this one, I haven't seen Iran in years, and while Nigeria won the CAN last year, a) the CAN isn't a great barometer of true class, and b) CAN winners often do badly at subsequent world cups, if they qualify that is.
Ghana 2; US 1. Ghana IMO are probably the strongest African team, and they'll want to go further than four years ago. I'm not impressed by Klinsmann as a manager, he knows sweet fanny adams about tactics or personnel management (Jogi Low did all that during Klinsmann's time as Germany boss, so Klinsmann's plaudits should properly have gone to Low back then). And what he does know, fitness is conditioning you can get off many people trained in that area and also leads to his teams being overtrained physically and being underprepared technically and tactically.
Belgium 3; Algeria 1. Belgium should be too good at this stage. Algeria are better than four years ago, but in a tougher spot vis a vis opponents.
Brazil 3; Mexico 1. Brazil should be good enough. Mexico are still not there when it comes to the big games.
Russia 2; South Korea 1. Russia aren't great, but they're better than the Koreans.
