HAK got Oracle and may have just me Henge to a dtay consolation prize.

I've actually been wondering if this would happen for weeks now... AFAIK, from what dtay's posted, he wouldn't have put a single hammer into the oracle so far, just prepping overflow, so he could definitely do it. IMHO henge is better than oracle for him here anyways; 30 hammers saved per city is a ziggurat going up 30 hammers sooner.

So when do you think your first forge will come out?

This is exactly he problem with going Oracle before settler. He has to expand hard to make up for hammers sunk into the Oracle. When will he find the time for the forge? Probably not until he has four cities is my guess, if then (is he IND? If no, even later). If I'm his neighbor I assume he expands hard now and skimps on military. I'd settle up on him aggressively and steal land.

I'm not a fan of this play. Whatever benefit he gains here requires additional investment that he can't afford for a long time. More cities would pay off much sooner.

Wondering if a "must build a wonder before your first settler" variant pbem could be a fun thing

Might work for a SG or Adventure- build a wonder before each Settler. Def. not viable for a PBEM though, whoever didn't get either 'Henge or Oracle would be in for some pain, and anyone who missed one (or more!) wonders by a few turns would be totally screwed.

There's still GW, and you could allow the shrines as well... But yeah, most probably it would be a super frustrating experience for half the players.. . though fun to lurk

Oh and hak is phi and founded Buddhism, so at least he should get a very early shrine out of it... Probably too early to be worthwhile

This at least is good. A very early shrine is very good because it helps with passive spreads of the religion. Won't pay out much cash at first but over time this could be awesome...
