XCOM 2 SG - It Continues?

Mission


   

I decide to give the sniper the fancy ammo, and the grenadier the fancy grenade in, i think, a non-controversial move

The intro video zoom to data vault shows a viper near the truck.

We are on the map with the bridge overpass which I always like for perching snipers on, as they have a view of everywhere. Covers tends to be pretty good on the approach too

Turn 1 
I push out hard to the objective, splitting the party:
Dreylin & Knight up on the bridge
Jkaen & Johnny 5 (Somebody rename him, I forgot) on the next building
Jowy & Lewwyn down on the ground between them
Everybody is full move with no overwatch

Turn 2 
alt tabbing between windows to right this report sees the mech wander off in the wrong direction, luckily not tripping anything.
Team Bridge locates a minor 2 man group and keeps an eye on them, everybody moves forward into better positions

IBT
The team patrol a bit nearer but nothing worrying

Turn 3 
I set the ambush with Lewwyn (who i forgot wont shoot) and team bridge on overwatch. Jkaen pulls off a long range shotgun critical for huge damage taking out the officer. Team Bridge combine to kill the other 
Right at the end of the turn I push lewwyn forward and spot the viper group (1 viper, 2 sectoid), but luckily he still has concealment
The mec checks a hack on the lights on his way back, but it has a 95% chance of calling a squad when the best he gets is a small dodge bonus i didnt think we needed

Turn 4
I set lewwyn (pointlessly) and Dreylin to overwatch, Knight's grenade cant quite reach the group so i move slightly nearer and activate them. Dreylin takes out the viper, 2 sectoids drop into cover and eat a acid grenade, which i forget doesnt damage cover. They both have 5 health left now, and i cant remember how many damage per round acid does. The rest of the team misses leaving jkaen, who can't quite cover them with a frag grenade his run and gun shotgun takes care of the nearest one

IBT 
The acid does 2 damage and with 3 health left he runs off to find his friends

Turn 5
The mech picks up the goodies dropped  by the viper and reveals the runner, Dreylin takes him down (the reloads and moves nearer). everybody then crowds round the truck ready for next turn

Turn 6

   

the truck is hacked, i go for the easy target, but would have made the harder one, not worth gambling though. The still stealthed Lewwyn scouts up ahead and finds a muton and 2 human group, we leave everybody for now and move ready for next turn

IBT 
The group patrols and Jkaen misses a snapshot, scattering the group into cover

Turn 7
We open fire with the group, with Lewwyn sat about 2 inches from the Muton still unseen, 

   

The bridge is a little bit too far for the best support, so Knight misses, but between the others and finishing in a double kill to Jkaen's axe we take them all down.

   

   

(fake) achievements unlocked
- run a mission without the enemy firing a shot
- dont have Lewwyn break stealth all game

Lewwyn needs to get a kill to unshaken, right?

I have to admit, I only remembered his unshaken status about 10 mins ago, had i remembered i would have stopped his hiding.

I think next player up either gets the intel to go to western USA and tackle the facility there, or if they want an epic goes and tackles the alien boss mission

I think that we are in a decent place to kill the king, if I am interpreting the wiki right then if I light him on fire with the special ammo he won't be able to use any of his abilities or reload, and the effect lasts for 2 turns so his ruler reactions will lose their bite pretty quickly.

I didn't know about not using his abilities, but the fire and acid tick every time he moves so it really stacks up

Well, according to the wiki burning stops reloading and "Most abilities with cooldowns", which sounds to me like all of them.

Now that I've thought about it, a part of me really wants to grab the save since it is a new round now and anyone can take it, but it feels wrong taking 2 important missions in a row. I'll wait a day, and if no one else takes it before then I will claim the save tomorrow.
