It wouldn't be the same version, but I'm 90% sure it was a sequential pitboss, so I think we'd have to make changes. It was the big one with several players on each team, and Plako was in it.
Golems can't get mobility. We've played around with giving them access to Light via a building, but never implemented it. If we're slowing everything else down then that buffs them. I think with fireball losing a move they'd also get a fair amount weaker.

Also, I use original disc version of Civ 4 BTS (patched to 3.19), not the Steam version. Does this matter in PBEM/Pitboss multiplayer compability?
It shouldn't, I'm currently using a USB stored copy of the pre-steam version of the game (changing computers and also using my mother's computer when at home) and am having no problems.
As I said to Miguelito in PM I'll be unable to play a competitive game for a while (we're short at work with small prospect of getting replacements), but I can ded-lurk somebody.
One word of advice, if the Illians are picked, I'd ban the building of Samhain, it comes too early and the barbs spawned can be too strong, they killed me (albeit with a wolf rider winning twice at low odds).

I want to take a close look at the starting settings. I like the faster start but it did feel like some tricks (Samhain, religion) were a little too fast out the gate.

Sign me up!
I support movement-limiting modding.
Could we select from four random leaders instead of 3, though?

I confirm my participation, as long as I'm able to update to EitB 12.1 (or is it 12.2?). Also, this will be my first PBEM/Pitboss game, so lurker help would be appreciated in case I have questions about rules or technical issues during the game. Reading through other threads I noticed that turn splits is something to be mindful of, but this is only relevant in simultaneus Pitboss, not in PBEM?
Some thoughts on setup:
- Is the plan to have similar settings compared to the recent EitB PBEM? (No Acheron or Orthus, AI diplo, no tech trading, no huts etc)
- Map size will be larger to have more space between starting areas? I'm ok with random map, with light editing to balance the starts.
- Ban specific civs/leaders/units? Maybe map dependent, for example cultists on water heavy map. I have no strong preferences here.
- Discovery era start, or otherwise accelerated start (some worker techs + worker)?
- Giving each player a few choices of leaders/civs with a reroll sounds good. I would prefer to see the starting area before locking in a civ, if possible.
EDIT: fixed a typo.

Yeah, no such thing as a PBEM turn split.
Agree with most of that - I think banning cultists depends on the map. I'd probably prefer one with about as much water as in the last one, unless I implement changes to slow down ships. I don't think any civs need to be banned.
Curious on the fields thoughts on huts/lairs/unique features.

Agree with those that coldrain said. Personally I like huts, lairs and unique features and I would keep them on. They add a cool element to the game and also that they make crazy things possible. But it’s not that important for me that I don’t mind if others want to remove them, that’s fine.
Do we have a mapmaker yet?

If no one else volunteers, I can try to make a map. For five players? And what settings? Any balance vs take-what-you-roll vs mirrored vs specific script requests? Is everybody starting with a bunch of identical techs again? If so, which ones? Included in settings: There seems to be some uncertainty about huts/lairs. "Further apart than the last one" I can do; any other requests?
Note to the extent you want balance, please warn me of important things this means. It's been a long time since I played EitB, and if you want a precisely-balanced non-mirrored map, I'm the wrong person for the job. (And if you want a map in say the next week, it may depend on what you're asking for here....)

I don't think we need precisely balanced. I wouldn't be too opposed to Torusland, though with minimal water as the lakes can be problematic. Perhaps with peaks instead? Thanks for offering!
I need to say right now that I'll be out of action from late September to early November, about five weeks. I'm going overseas (for the first time in 5-6 years) and will not be bringing my computer. While I could check on my phone I don't want to commit to that. So for me to play I'd need to partner with someone who can commit to covering turns for an extended period.
If no one else is available, Bing I could dedlurk / partner with you? Our time zones are pretty similar.

I kinda like lairs, but if the vets thunk it's better to have them banned I'll follow their wisdom.
