i'm in. pic incoming.
WARNING: It's NOT pretty.
EDIT:
Ok, positives, we have plains hills to settle on and grass hills to use.
Negative- EVERYTHING ELSE. There will certainly be food in the fog, but where???
Our only resource is in jungle- which has been edited in.
First impressions are less than happy. I can only hope everyone got similar starts.

Ok, breath in. Breath out.
Right, everyone must have similar starts as it's been balanced. Still, first impressions is it's possibly one of the worst starts i've had in a game of civ 4 ha.
But this is RB- adversity is the name of the game. Maybe that's the point with this map? hmm.
My opinion, use warrior to scout NW and see what's there. That spot includes 1 more grassland hill and thru tile bleeding, the land looks a bit better.

BwahahahahHAHAHAhahahaha!!!
Ahhh . . . I find that picture to be incredibly hilarious, for some reason. Also, Kyan's remarks.
OK, gotta give props to Sullla for this. Now, everyone is probably in similar straights, otherwise I will be slightly upset. Now, we want to move the Warrior at the very least, maybe the Settler, too. The question is: Where?
It looks brown to the west. A little greener to the east. Hm, and the Warior/Settler are stacked, somewhat unusual. So, what if we move the Warrior 1NE, and . . . see what we see? If we have to, move the Settler 1SW?
Next turn, move the Warrior 1SE (another hill) before making further decisions. Hopefully we'll spy some food. We just need to figure out which direction it is in. I'd like to keep that Silver in the BFC, though.
Edit: Seems Kyan had similar idea re: Warrior move. Do that first before moving Settler (may still be necessary).

Well at least there's plenty of hammers when we mine those hills, fresh water and some forest to chop.
I don't think its awful, though it isn't exactly brilliant either.
We could move the warrior around for 2 turns and try and find something better, or live with a big production city. I'm wondering whether we should set our capital on a hill for extra early defence?

I think we should move the warrior NE onto the hill for extra visibility and move the settler E onto the silver for extra cover.
I think W is not going to be an improvement and E leads to a bend in the river so possibly an irrigated food?

I REALLY don't want to avoid settling any later than turn 2.
Any objections to Warrior going NW?
If we spy some food, we move settler there and settle next turn. That way we get:
a) plains hill hammer bonus in city
b) defence bonus
c) Keep silver in BFC.
This is all presuming we find SOME food by moving there.
Also, being a hill it will at least show us a lot more of what we have to work with.

I think, along with Whosit, that warrior NE is the best move, on a hill, towards more grassland.
If nothing there, then we send settler NW onto plains hill, more visibility and plains hill bonus for settling next turn

Fair enough, let me try one more time to persuade you anyhow
Plains hill is one of the best tiles to start on. It means your capital will start with 1 more hammer than usual. This hammer MORE than makes up for moving your capital.
Moving from starting spot is never an easy decision to make but we haven't got a lot of options with that awful showing.
I personally believe this will lesson our disadvantages the most.
I see your point about the warrior move then settler in opposite direction, but i think it's REAL risky. I don't particularly want to send my settler up a hill, using up all his movement, without knowing whats there first. It could well be we get there and there's jack all there.
Only directly west of hill looks like plains by the way, the rest looks decent.
If we move warrior NW and its crap, then sure we're exactly where we were before except i'd probly be looking to either settle on spot (and hope sullla didn't screw us with the fog) OR move NE or SW onto a hill. We will know which direction because the warrior move will unfog a lot.

If we move it NW and there is nothing, we MUST move the Settler NE to unfog and see. I'd be surprised if both sides were as bad as the other. Is that fair enough?
