[SPOILERS] Team SsS

Hello!

Checking in!

I think the 3 of us were in agreement when we said that diplomacy was going to be testing to begin with. We are all also in agreement that we hope to gain trust off others by our actions and not by signing all to easy to break NAP's. I don't think that is to say we aren't going to sign one ever, but it does mean we are going to very cautious not to sign them willy nilly and limit our options. If we can get away with it, we won't sign any! yikes

Now, lets see if I can get this screenshot right...

The way I see it we should move our warrior to either of those two hills. Tile bleeding tells me there's a water tile surrouned by forests to our north. That's not very exciting so I figure moving W with the warrior, revealing 4 more tiles over there, would be the best move.

I'm rather curious about those desert tiles down in the south - could they be flood plains? We could move our settler SE then SW onto that forested hill to get what I believe would be a really nice view of the area. Worth the risk? If not, assuming the warrior find nothing out of interest, I'd still like to move the settler one east. I reckon we'll be able to grab more river tiles for our capital if we found 1E of our current position.

If you want to move the settler 1E, be sure to move the warrior 1W first to see what we would be missing out on!

Yes, the warrior will move first ofc.

If you want to move settler 1E, move it 1SE first and then 1N.
I wouldn't settle on a river grassland forest though, that should be chopped and cottaged. It's better to settle on a river plains tile, which is a clearly inferior tile to work.

True Novice, but what if we gain 3 grassland river forests by settling there? wink

It's a bit a gamble but that river gotta go somewhere!

Moved the warrior 1W:

Nothing out of the ordinary in that direction. The big question now is whether we want to move the settler or not? It's getting rather late over here and I have an early lecture tomorrow so I'm going to bed now. Hopefully I'll have some solid advice waiting for me tomorrow!

I'm kinda liking the idea of 1E... No river tiles to the west and there has GOT to be a few more to the east I would think. There are 2 very minor drawbacks (permanently losing a forest chop and not settling on the plains tile), but I don't think those are really that big a deal if it means we can get more river cottages to the east. I was skeptical at first but I think I'm kind of in favor of moving 1E, though I would be happy to settle in place as well.

Also, would it be crazy to go Bronze Working first and THEN Agriculture? BW and worker first, then while we're waiting for Agriculture, chop out another worker. We definitely have several forests for chopping out the worker quickly, and I think it would help get us off to a quick start... Mildly risky but I think we would be okay if we're careful with our warrior.

Speaking of the warrior, with a map that I would have to think will be slightly cramped, we definitely need to keep him relatively close to home, but we DO need to scout enough to find iron. If we get to IW and we haven't found Iron yet, we're sort of sunk. Based on the way the last couple games have been decided, I'm guessing there's no way there's iron in the capital but I'm also thinking there's no way that it won't be reasonably within reach. Maybe just scout clockwise around our capital with the starting warrior, but fairly close to our borders in case of emergency?
