[Spoilers] Defining the phrase "€˜Hung Like a Horse"€™: Pb & the Kuriotates

pocketbeetle Wrote:This thread will contain swear words, temper tantrums, frequent and derisive commentary on the intelligence/ provable parentage/ size of cojones (or lack of) of either a) other players b) the map maker (sorry Darrell heart) c) anyone who annoys me.

No worries...the map made itself for the most part, so blame Sirian lol.

I'm loving everyone's reporting so far, I really hope the word is out and people are lurking this game because its shaping up to be a great story.

God help you if anyone ever manages to take a city from you. The plunder reward!

Does FFH change the formula for plunder gold? In regular Civ 4, it is not dependent on the treasury of the victim:

Interesting and a good question.
I always assumed it was dependent on the treasury, it's good to know it's not, and from now on I'll just head towards the highest pop cities. smile

My assumption about treasury levels was in part because the conquer gold for taking the last city and eliminating the player is usually the highest bounty.
Is it not giving you the last of their gold when you eliminate someone? Or does it just disappear into the ether?

Regarding FFH2: I don't know whether they've changed this mechanic for everyone.
But I do know the mod designers have changed the code for some races, notably because my civ, the Kuriotates, are beneficiaries of this.
They have two tiers of cities, the less valuable of which give minimal gold when conquered.

I tried quickly throwing up a WB test, but couldn't figure out how to edit the AIs treasury levels.
The best I could do was Edit city gold, and that didn't seem to work correctly.
Any suggestions?

Not true. It just can seem so in comparison to other cities, if the last city is larger (such as the capital) and the other cities were smaller or not owned for 50 turns.

Treasury dependency WAS true in Civ 3, so this happened there, but not in Civ 4.

That's it. One way to take advantage of that (maybe not in FFH) is to have a spy do a Steal Treasury mission against the last city before conquering it. Although a victim on the verge of death probably doesn't have much to take.

I'm at work now but I know I've done gold editing in WB before. WB limits it to 5000 gold even if you type in more.

Yeah agreed with the last part.
For the first - there's no espionage in FFH2. Demographics are freely available after contact.

I'd be interested to know how, but don't stress.

I think it's unlikely that the basic rules would have been changed without at least a note by someone somewhere.
For the Kuriotates it's specifically stated that conquer gold has been decreased, hence why I know.

Certainly seems slightly counter-intuitive to have a civ dripping in gold however, and only getting a tiny fraction when conquering their capital.
Oh well!

Oh and shameless double post.

Kuriotates section updated.

Additionally, I'm going to repeat my call for a dedicated lurker or two.
There's a good chance I'm going to need a turnplayer at some point.

Feel free to consider the above posts a declaration of intent.

Simple as cake. "Edit City" mode, click on any city, and put a number in the "Gold" box. Works for me. It is capped at 5000, I guess to deter silly god-mode shenanigans with millions of gold.

If you're looking at AI diplo to verify it, remember that the AIs do not make all their gold available for trade.

The thing that confused me, was after modifying, say the AI capital city to 5000 gold, the next city I clicked on, be it mine, or a second AI, also had 5000 gold in the box.
Is it just remembering the number and passing it over?

Looking back however, I think I was just a bit confused at the time.

I tried wb'ing in a unit or two to capture one of the AIs cities, and the conquer gold was only around 5-10gp on turn ~5ish, which does agree with your post. nod
