I did a no-cottage challenge as financial last game, I think you're good to go with the automated workers plan

I had an idea for a pick methodology that might strike a balance between the randomness of a draft or pre-generated pick selection (a.la. Veterans) and the control of a snake pick (more/less constrained by list position):

Step 1: all Leaders and Civs are put in a bucket and each player is assigned 1. At this point you have either a Leader or Civ.
Step 2: players select the other half of their combination and send to game admin / mapmaker (post in Spoiler thread or PM)

Important note: duplicates are allowed, so you don't have to worry about what anyone else picks.

Caveat: in order to avoid the 5 PRO/Inca, 3 AGG/Zulu lineup, I would propose that we ban these power combinations. (Open to others, but these two seem to crop up overly frequently )

Not wedded to it, just throwing it out there as an option...

I would really like to play a casual pitboss here after lurking for a couple of years, but I need to consider if I can right now. Basically I'd have to decide between this and my other gaming in order to be able to put in the time to do it justice. I don't want to sign up only to forget turns and end up ditching it in 6 months. So, put me down for now, I'll come back in a day or so with a more definite answer, if that's alright.

I'm interested but I've also seen Xenu's map. FWIW I don't remember much of it but I do recall the general layout so that is probably not ideal unless the lurkers want to be in charge of my initial scouting and warrior rush*.

*note: "warrior rush" is not intended to indicate that the map is either too small or too large for a warrior rush to be a good or bad idea. It is, however, intended to indicate that the map is, in fact, a map.
