A picture of the land between us. Next turn, move 93 onto the hill, get vision on his capital.
And yeah, that's fucking right, that's me switching my fucking tech 5 turns in. Ugggghhh, I don't think I'll even bother aiming for a religion. If I'm lucky, Elkad will found one. There's pretty much no choice but to kill, all signs point to being bottled up.
A settler should get spat out on T30, and it would be even sooner if I had been teching Hunting from T0. The indicated city location is quite strong, alot of hammers.
So what to kill Elkad with? Chariots? They still get odds on Vultures, and their existence could cause him to underbuild spears. Axemen? They straight up get odds on Vultures. Axes + Catapults? Dunno, that feels awfully slow to me.

Disappointly, the border pop pushed me 4, instead of 7. Moved 89, got vision over the lake, no resources visible. Uh, that suggests that Elkad is going to aim to settle either east towards the resources that he's scouted himself, or west towards that triple resource power site.

A shot of the territory I've scouted around Elkad. He too has a strong city site to aim for early on to the east, which is good, as he will aim his sights away from me. I've also marked the map with approximately where I intend to scout with my scout ~T20 onwards, doubling back and defogging the southern coast for seafood. This will cost me deep scouting information, but that's not essential in these kinds of games. I just don't want my settler eaten by a wolf.
Two people gained points, probably from techs. What I don't get is why Nyles gained points before the turn roll, and gsorel gained points after the turn roll. Weird.
Also, I think Borsche missed his turn, gj you stupid noob.

Daaaamn, that's a really nice city by Elkad. Looks like the map is partially mirrored, everyone gets a sheep/cows/fish city ~5tiles from your start. Slightly nicer for Elkad, they are adjacent in the cardinals, while my site is adjacent slightly diagonal, meaning that there are more tiles of neutral terrain between my capital and the natural expand. The mirrored starts also suggests the mapmaker wasn't dumb enough to bottle me off with a single neighbour, there's probably someone to my north.

Based on the timestamp, it was extremely likely that he gained those on the turn roll, its just that the tracker just doesn't put stuff in a sensible order sometimes.

Yeah weird, G is before N on the alphabet.
Also, hi DTG! How best to scout? Move 69, then declare war and move 77 through his territory? It might spook Elkad. Or hope there's a corner hill, so I can get vision on his capital.
There's also a really high chance I have a neighbour to the north.
And look at this embarassing score, I still haven't gained first tech points yet lmao.

BTW, what are the rules for phony wars? Can I do something like DoW in the first half of the timer, and ask for peace in the same turn? And are there any double-move rules?

Oh well, decided to not try and DoW my way through DTG's borders, and it turned out to not be necessary to gain city vision. If I were DTG, I'd settle on that spot: very strong first city, hill for defences, and can pop borders with terraces.
Worker popped out next turn, will start to move my scout back home via the northerly route.

You can ask for peace in the same turn, sure, but you should keep to the half of the timer you declare on, and try not to double-move.
