Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

[SPOILERS] Big Oil! F. Dreylin Roosevelt of the Vikings

My, things are moving quickly now; couple of turns to catch up with...

t1 -

Fog gazing implied that there's no 2-move after jumping on that hill, but I go ahead anyway:

Chasing Sheep:

Aha, there's my Coast! I had been planning to loop around to the West, but now I think NE should be the first move.

t3 -

NE and then SE, because:

Well that has a look of backlines to me ... and very nice backlines indeed! :nods:

Of course dotmapping looks painful... shakehead

Border pop!

Anticlimax anyone?

OK, let's have a look at the East:

Going SE from here, but looking here since there's no way through with a 2-move.

Wolf declines to attack; I give it another chance:

Some religious sort has founded Buddhism.

Wolf declines again <sigh> and ...

Oh. That's a bit closer than I expected ... although I guess I was one of the ones requesting a smaller map. I squint closely at it for a long time, but I still can't quite make it look like either Elkad's Korea or Donovan's Maya, which means that's TBS's Zulu. <gulp>  shakehead  bang

12tiles directly N/S between our cities. Scout will head NW to defog the terrain between us. This may be a straight to Settler at Size 2 and found on the Copper situation...

Time to scout out the area between us; was going to go NW-NW, but I found another Wolf there so NW-W it is ... and I forgot to take a picture.

Got my 1xp!

Not a scratch is good because this turn I found a cat:

Fingers crossed for a survival!

Meanwhile I have used a touch of MM to ensure the Warrior will pop the same time SLB grows to Size2 and I can start straight on a Settler.

Aaaaand....

Closer than comfortable, but still alive nonetheless. :nods: Can't skip across the desert, so I move him 1N to finish defogging that section and fingers crossed he can promote next turn.

(NB. I think superdeath missed that last turn, so I hope he doesn't turn up asking for a reload and risks my Scout's life again!)

This looks like a nice spot to heal:

Also maybe found a city? Of course I'm going to lose any culture fight with CRE/PHI Zulu.... shakehead

TBS found my Scout this turn:

Seems highly possible that he hasn't seen my borders yet so doesn't know how close we are. He came from the West, so I figure it should be safe to advance my Scout to defog some more before pausing to heal. Warrior pops next turn and will defog the West before returning to guard the Settler.

Growth will coincide with the build completion and I'll start a Settler at Size2 with the Pigs and Elephants. Since mining that bare hill would only gain me a commerce point over the unimproved 'phants, the Worker is moving to the Sheep. Intent is to put at least one chop into the Settler and either found city2 for Copper or, if that's at SLB, plant something towards TBS to stake out the area.

Got greedy and moved the Scout one more time without healing...

Stupid. shakehead

TBS moved his Scout North and can see my borders. Also, Stone!?
