Well, they're ignoring the buffs to both Creative and Charismatic, that's for sure. I'm not going to ding them on avoiding Spiritual and Philosophical; both are very powerful but hard to use for a green.
I much prefer boggle-style picks of some sort or another.

The map looks cool, I like that each player probably borders 4 out of the 5 opponents and the borders are not very clear.
I think it's pretty likely a lot of those Astro islands are settled by a 100 culture border pop though. There seems to be a lot of natural settling spots for seafood spots that would leave this possibility.
Regarding the picking, I agree with mack, I think Pro/Cre is the stongest pair in this version.

Could someone explain the Cre buff? In my 38 thread I rated it highly but said something like "I like Cre in spite of the consensus against it." I might be misremembering, but I really thought it was seen as weaker, namely because its benefit (easier dotmapping, easier cultural tug-of-war) tends to make sloppy play tighter, rather than give you a new tool. I thought Mack's advice to Charriu was in the context of giving a newbie an easy to play leader that would have immediate benefits, not necessarily that Pro/Cre was the best combo flat out. Plus if anything, RtR makes Cre even more early game focused, whereas BtS's library discount could kind of be an early mid game (or at least, late early game ) advantage.

Old versions of Cre in mods were essentially either +1cpt and a Lib bonus or +2cpt and no Lib bonus. Currently we get +2cpt and 35% on Library. ~22h off libraries, one of the earliest buildings, is a pretty big boost IMO.
Maybe I'm putting words in mack's mouth but Pro/Cre are my top two right now.

I wanted to dedlurk chariu but seeing he ignored my advice , better lurk all.
to understand how powerfull are traits we need to see that the balance was created in 2 ways: nerfing some traits(like financial with is from my point of view same level with pro fr5om bts now, exp lost grranaries, Cre lost 66% on libraris) and others gain big advantages and here is pro ,cha , and philo.
Cre was top 4 along org ,exp, fin and remained there becasue of the small lose, org is there and pro practicaly the old exp.And there is alot of sinergy between cre and pro so my point of view is the stronger combination with ORG/pro coming next(oh but wait there is no such think).So right now i think CRe/pro is more dominant in rtr then was Pacal in Bts.
The other traits are fine as well here but none can offer the start and the snowball Cre/pro is.

Interesting. Thanks, guys.
Lots of offensive power in a lot of these picks, but nobody planning a dedicated rush yet? Shame.

Coeurva seems to be under the impression that starts are mirrored, where would he have got that from?

From the worldbuilder save, the arrangement of players is
<--wrap-- Superdeath----------------------Magic----------------------Coeuvra----------------wrap-->
<--wrap------------------------Shallow----------------------RFS----------------------Charriu --wrap-->
Persia can't rush Rome, which is a pity.

I didn't think about settling on sugar. Could be faster for non-EXP.

Superdeath loses out on the ability to take advantage of slow/weak Pacalstart, pity for him (I randomized start locations, no animus). Feels like RFS and Magic are the slowest plans right now.
