SD seems to have switched from "all military all the time" to "expansion!!" cathy is probably the best expansion leader, with the nerf to expansive - either her or Joao, still.
I'm really thinking about Boudica of Maya - between charismatic, cheap monument, cheap ballcourts and cheap barracks, that's a LOT of happiness. If I can get a holkan rush, that would be good, too, though I suspect it will be tougher than I think

Fast Holkans sounds more dangerous as Impi if the copper is not placed nearby the capital. I would combine it with an AGG leader.

I'm thinking boudica of maya - if the holkan rush doesn't work, then I fall back on having a huge happy cap, with 80 hammers giving me 5 happy!! (15 hammer monument, 25 hammer barracks, 40 hammer ballcourts). I can ignore luxuries and exclusively settle food. I kind of like it.
Dunno that I will get Boudica. My other thought is the phi/ind leader, cause that would be cool.

so, why boudica? I"m not convinced that my holkan plan is good - but boudica gives me a LOT of choice for cheap UBs

Egypt, for the early great people
Ethiopia, I think it is, for the culture boost (do stele's pop in 8 turns, or is it rounded down?)
Ball Courts, for the happy.

Thinking about it, I could attack someone with 3 Guerilla 2 archers for not much more than 2 WII holkans, though I wouldn't be able to chop out the archers - I guess the Holkans is it.

I went with Maya. I like it - barracks/holkan doesn't delay settler #1 and it might net me a city. 2 holkans would delay settler #1, but even so, they make for execellent barb defense, and the happy cannot be beat.
I will admit to thinking about babylon - serfdom makes farms a lot better and the city as freshwater source might be important.
