That closer site is better than it looked before with the appearence of corn and definitely good enough to settle. Hill non-forest deer is extremely unimpressive as resources go and I'd probably take the river tiles over it anyway. My point isn't so much that we should go out of our way to annoy people with settling as we shouldn't make apologies for claiming contested gold when everyone else is Fin.

I'd like to propose a more conservative plan of action:

I prefer this as well, although we should consider the tile the scout is standing on. True we are losing the plains hill hammer and I'd rather have a grassland hill than plains hill in the BFC, but a) its trading 2 grassland tiles and a peak for 2 grassland river tiles and a grassland river hill tile as well as adding a forest to one grassland tile, and b) the approach is all flat tiles.

For the Scout, 89 then 66 seems fairly obvious.

Since Stone is very valuable strategic resource to us I would move scout 1-7 next turn to check areas west from it and just after that head to east.
