I suspect we're the laughingstock of the lurkers, first for wasting two turns on a Worker, then for actually missing a turn... sorry about yesterday.

Dammit, I'm going to end up being turn player, aren't I? Sucks for the team that I can't actually play a turn until Sunday

Well, Dave just hauled me aboard two or three days ago and it seems I boarded a ship without a steersman ⦠Iâm a complete green with respect to multiplayer, although I enjoy Civ and used to play SP quite frequently (starting with II through IV). I was planning on joining this game as an introduction to MP playing before taking up a Play-By-Email, but if need be I guess I could play turns if it fits my schedule (all the major decisions are made in advance anyway in a game like this, the turn-player just executes the plan). Some of the best swimmers learn by necessity after getting thrown in the water. Some general information:
I am in Eastern Time US, generally available evenings although college may affect availability as the semester progresses.
At the moment I have no idea how to connect to a pitboss game.
I do not live on campus but my university does restrict gaming through the network so I would not be able to connect until I get home in the evenings (Iâve seen others comment about this in other games). Forum access is fine.
I did not read the pages and pages of stuff related to the setup so I do not know all the settings (which would be useful in any case). Is there a quick summary post somewhere?

We do need a turnplayer... Frankly, I will not agree a reload until you sort yourself out. This is not some sort of act of god, this is a case of a dozen guys that can't be even bothered to organize themselves, communicate real life time difficulties and introduce/execute failsafe when the timer runs down.
At the moment you can be hardly called a team and you're just about barely taking part in this event.
Get a grip people.

Yeah, there's certainly a bit of a collective action problem going on. I've more or less checked out of this game, and while I guess I sort of apologize for that, at the same time I didn't ever intend to sign up for much more than forum posting in discussion.
Also, I'd say no reload request and just eat it, although with it already being asked for probably just go with it at this point.

Yeah I think we should ask for a reload. Losing a worker turn is a big deal. We also need to work out a micro plan immediately.

Why did you sign up as backup turn player then?

I was expecting that to be filling in for Dave once or twice when for whatever reason he couldn't get to the game that day, not consistently playing. I also didn't think I'd be the only one to sign up for it (and indeed other people did express interest during that period).

I'm kinda in the same situation. I originally wasn't going to do anything other than C&D, but when no-one covered for me when I was away I guess I just lost interest in that too, so I apologize for that. This weekend I'll see what I can do to renew the C&D department.
Considering we missed a turn, we really need to sort out the turn players. I'd suggest a group of 3-4 people who are able to log in fairly frequently and know what the plan is, and whoever logs in first of the group plays the turn. I can log in frequently, although I'm not volunteering for the job unless we don't get enough people.
Also considering the situation I think we should just eat the reload, after all perhaps that's what we needed to get serious about this game again.

Mist speaks the truth, sadly.
I'm still up for turnplaying, can't do C&D.
So for turnplaying we have thestick, pindicator, and Cornflakes, with WK as backup? How are we going to communicate with each other without cluttering up this thread?
Anyone else on micro?
Is it time to start poking everyone else who signed up for this?
