does catwalk have no state religion? i know the holy cities are worth +5cpt -- but i think you lose that if you adopt one of them as your state religion

That's correct - Catwalk runs no state religion. AT hasn't converted either to Confucianism.

TZ moved their impi into the jungle 1E of my sheep, and I took a chance with my new axe - named Båld - at 75% (skipping even the C1 promotion), and won. So now I've got a shock or W2 axe coming up. My axe in west - Adieu - killed the barb warrior, and is covered by Gööt against AT's scouting WC, while the spear covers my worker that finishes the horse pasture.

Ränneslätt has finally finished its work boat and netted the fish, and will grow to 2 next turn.

Last night I finally decided on the Parthenon and the Great Library. I will put the GL in Fröderyd and the Parthenon in Ränneslätt. The reason is simply that I can chop out almost half the GL in Fröderyd. Not the best solution, but it will work. I will probably put two whip overflows from settlers or workers into the GL too.

Parthenon will be heavily reliant on whip overflows, but Ränneslätt gets +7F at size 2 and can pick up two 3H food neutral tiles, so can grow quickly while dumping hammers into the wonder. I will probably whip a granary, a mint, and a barracks or library into the Parthenon.

End turn. Ränneslätt and Alseda grows, to 2 and 4.

Stonehenge was built in a far away land.

Catwalk gained 12 points and 8 land tiles when Varanasi expanded borders. Earlier GNP testing had shown that one team has researched Aesthetics, so that gets assigned there. That also changes my assessment of his tech path, tentatively to Agriculture (T41) -> Pottery (T45) -> Writing (T51) -> Aesthetics (T62). The good news is that his teching sucks, but it'll be a real race to the Great Library, and he might have an academy and a few scientists running now.

Apart from Catwalk, 11 more land tiles were claimed, and they are now up to 39 unassigned.

AT gained 30 points, and TZ gained 25, probably a classical tech and a pop. Rival worst in population rose with 15000, so TZ grew their third city to size 3. That leaves 27000. AT increased score with 30, which fits with growing a city to size 4 and a wonder. He also gained 1000 in power.

Despite me killing his impi, TZ increased in power, and global power went up 6000. 1000 of that is AT, leaving a net of 9000. GNP checking indicates no other bonus techs but Aesthetics, so I put him down for Metal Casting, which took him 15t.

AT moved his scouting chariot away after my show of force in the west.

Gööt moved onto the iron, and he's backed up by the spear Berg, since AT's scouting chariot was nearby. I promote him to G1 just in case - he's at 4 XP anyway so can promote after the next fight regardless. Hurtig and Adieu plays zone defense for Fröderyd and Ränneslätt.

I decided to do a farm for Ränneslätt. It will help run another specialist in the city (+7F from bonus tiles), and Åsa-Nisse will help with chopping out the Great Library in Fröderyd afterwards. I'm also pretty sure I will settle on the tundra iron to the west of Fröderyd.

Finish farming the banana, and whip the barracks in Alseda. It will overflow into the almost finished axe, and I can probably get a chariot or skirmisher out of it as well. Then probably grow on a library - I will need some culture in the city.

Research is turned back on. I have 143g and loses 21 per turn. Reshuffle EPS so all don't go to Catwalk.

End turn. The barracks in Alseda is built with far too much overflow - I will lose a lot of it if I finish the axe first, so I will probably do spear or skirmisher -> axe. Ryd and Fröderyd grows to 7, and costs go up to 22.

No notifications. AT's copper city expanded its borders to second ring. He has 70g and makes 24gpt. Demos after ending turn:

Sternum is up to size 8. Vijayanagara is size 5. Some fiddling with the numbers gives the following pop figures:

Catwalk: 7-5-5-5-2
AT: 8-7-4-4-1
TZ: 8-6-4-2 (TZ grew every one of their cities!)

Total rival power increased with 8000, of which half was from pop. TZ got a dip, small increase for AT and a large increase for Catwalk.

No notifications or other activity around my borders. AT's scouting chariot even stayed put. Gööt goes NW, and will go SW next turn to get some better view of the land around the lake. I need to get some units to my southwest too, but it'll probably need to be a reconnaissance in force.

The library in Fröderyd is whipped, and I get so much overflow from the barracks whip in Alseda that I will have to dump the overflow first into a spear (that gives the least amount of loss due to rounding) and then into the axe.

End turn. No barbs. Ränneslätt grows to 3, and I can pick up a farm and grow to 4 in 2t, allowing me to whip the granary and overflow to either a mint or the Parthenon. Fröderyd builds its library, and I get a skirmisher and a spear. Costs go up to 24gpt.

Foreign development and C&D

Varanasi is down to size 1 and has a granary now. From the graphs TZ has really focused on military to try to catch up with my tech power lead. 3 axes, 2 spears, and 7 skirmishers should be enough to keep me secure.

Demos after ending turn:

Only change in score is that Catwalk whipped away 2 pop and 14000 in population. 1 and 5000 of those are in Varanasi, but Delhi and Vijayanagara are still size 7 and 5. That means he grew one size 5 city to 6, and whipped the last one to 3.

In power Catwalk whipped away 1000, but rival top rose to 113000 (with 9000) and rival total 12000. That gives 13000 to TZ and -1000 to Catwalk.

Cumulative totals are Catwalk 95000, AT 102000, and TZ 113000.

No notifications. AT moved his scouting chariot up onto the forested plains hill by Catwalk's borders, and Catwalk showed a spear. I decide to let Gööt stay in place.

Lots of micro decisions this turn. Ryd starts a settler that I will 3-pop whip next turn (with immediate growth back to size 5), and overflow to a library. Fröderyd received lots of overflow this turn, which is used to 1-turn a worker. Ränneslätt works a cottage this turn, and will work a farm the next, with growth to 4 and an immediate 2-pop whip of the granary, with overflow to a mint. Lots of tile micro to get optimal amounts of overflow in Fröderyd and Ryd.

End turn. Alseda grows to 4, and Fröderyd builds a worker. No barbs appearing.

AT has turned research back on, and is down to 48g. He breaks 100 in GNP now!

I gained 13 points (1 pop), Catwalk 27 (2 pop), AT lost 13 (a whip), and TZ gained 40 (3 pop). AT didn't get early land points. Strange this...

From top cities and the map, Sternum is 9, Lava 8, Delhi 7, Bombay 4, Vijanayagara 5, and Varanasi 2. We have 93 total pop, including barbs.

And here my C&D efforts break down - I get Catwalk's and TZ's pop and score numbers perfectly - they're aligned with rival worst and rival best in population. But AT has lost 13 points, but all the population numbers line up perfectly. Pretty sure I've made an error somewhere, but beats me where it is.

I managed to work out what happened with AT's cities: he probably 2-pop whipped a size 4 city and grew the other size 4 city to 5.

That gives +42000 +1 pop -42000 -2 pop.

Another turn, and again no notifications. AT had moved his scouting chariot away from the forested hill, so Gööt could get a good look at Catwalk's lake with fish and whale.

Ryd 3-pop whips its settler, but I will have three pop growths as the turn rolls, including in Ryd, so it won't show up in score. It will show up in the top cities screen, however.

Ränneslätt works a farm this turn, so it can grow at the end of turn and whip the granary T66. Fröderyd puts its worker overflow into a chariot, and will switch to either a settler or a worker T66, so it has two prepared units to whip into the Great Library. My workers position themselves to chop out the wonder.

I prepare to set up a group that can explore the central region to my south. It will include my veteran axe and skirmisher, and probably a spear as well.

End turn. Aesthetics in, and Fröderyd, Ränneslätt, and Ryd grows.

No new bonus techs this turn either. Demos after ending turn:

Analysis will have to come tomorrow, but all the score changes are due to pop. AT was responsible for most of the increase in power.

Late playing this turn, all my free civ and internet time yesterday was consumed by the ISDG.

Still no notifications, and Aesthetics is in. No enemies in sight. 2t to Literature, but I will increase my costs next turn and won't be able to run 100% science next turn, so it'll be touch and go there, but some engineers and scientists may do the trick. But it's the chops and whips that are important, anyway - they chops are due in 2t and 3t, and I'm prepping whips of a chariot and an axe. I will probably put in a turn watermilling and mining to make all the chops come in T69.

The settler for my next city is in place. I will need to chop a granary, and get some culture into the city as soon as possible. I'm also assembling my scouting group for the central region to my southwest.

End turn. Ränneslätt gets is granary and Alseda grows to 5. A barb warrior appears west of Alseda. The borders of Fröderyd expands.

The third great person of the game was born this turn, a Great Scientist. The borders of AT's copper city expanded to third-ring borders, so he must have non-trivial amounts of culture in there - perhaps it's his Stonehenge city?

AT also had another city popping borders on the central area to my southwest. I hope my reconnaissance-in-force is enough to get decent visibility there and maybe crampen AT a bit.

Fröderyd 1-pop-whips the axe, and will overflow to the Great Library. Then whip the chariot and get the chops into it as well. Ränneslätt dumps the overflow from the granary into the Parthenon, and will grow on a mint next. It will have to rely on the whip, IND, and forges for the builder.

Lekaryd will get a chopped forest for its granary, and takes over the sheep. Alseda hires an engineer in the meantime.

End turn. Ryd grows to 6, and Fröderyd grows back to 6 as well.

Foreign development and C&D

Another team has Currency now from GNP checks, probably TZ. And I think Catwalk has teched Literature. Of course, when one has a one-turn advantage to the tech in a wonder race when the other player has forges and is IND with two whips and three chops lined up, I doubt that will be enough... whip
