You know, i'm like the person who builds happily in the corner while ignoring what's happening around me, until i don't even know who else is on Erebus... until the time comes and i get rushed =P

That's great news! You're doing really well right now, my only suggestion is to build a scouting unit (or three). Four reasons- one, you want to identify mana node locations for Chalid (or mages in general). Two, finding other civs will give you some research bonuses. Three, you need to get a good feel for how close your future enemies are & what land you can reasonably claim as yours. Fourth, you could potentially pop a nasty unique feature to screw with the others
What tech path are you considering at the moment? I wouldn't delay the Empyrean for too long, but I think you also have a good chance to be the first to the Drama artist, the Military Strategy great commander, and Hyborem / Basium. Or you could forget the Empyrean and stick with the Overlords, Stygian Guard are very nice units which counter vamps well. Slow, though.

I can't stick with Stygian's because they're undead. And undead = no haste. OO is now currently for the culture boost and happy. It was supposed to be my protection against Doviello intentions, but now that they're against Luchuirp, we can scrap it.
I'm getting BW first, no point delaying it especially since i have guaranteed copper. That will also be my backbone of defense. After that i'm rushing straight to trade, for the commerce and finally founding both Empyrean and CoE (for an emergency Nox Nortis, in case it's not banned).
Of course, i'll fit in a few essential techs like festivals (Cheap Markets), hunting (Hawks and Deer), and archery (LMill).
Radiata is building 1 turn warriors before it grows (which it will after 4 turns). So i'm getting another 4 warriors to stave off barb activity, and they'll remain as defenders till BW comes in (In which they will all become 4 str, and thus better scouts). Or i can wait till Lodges + a hunter+hawk combo. We'll see.
After Radiata grows, i'll get another Settler for the Copper Clams city, which Cerulean is building work boats for. I already have a work boat in Radiata for the whaling boats the second Sailing comes in. After my 4th city... I'll see where else i can build.

According to the manual, no. Demons are Non-Living, and Haste only works on the living. I haven't tested it, as the manual's sometimes wrong, but I wouldn't have confidence.

A short email to Darrell asking about the Sciz/Mist war, and well, the reply isn't good.
Quote:We do not have contact with either of them, however we did here from uberfish that they were at war, and that Ilios has taken advantage of the situation to settle right up against Sciz :-(. He has triple digit GNP right now and apparently a very nice gold/incense/dye start. Things do not look good.
Darrell
So, after BW/Hunting/Archery, rushing straight to Empyrean. Even then, it might be too late.

You don't really even need archery right now. Lumber mills will only earn you a few extra hammers, not worth it if you're in a rush to take a faith.

Food for thought:
Will the Malakim be faster then the Lanun to reach Mercurian/Hyborem faster? Malakim can get Financial as well, making all FP 3-3, and the Oasis a crazy 3-4. Add to the fact that you can cottage/farm all the FPs, will they be faster then Lanun?
Well, let's see. I'm racing for Empyrean, and if he does as well, we can see in the end who's faster =)
