Idk man, I heard lurkers once had to call off an entire PBEM here over stacks of that size, and those were at like turn 100! (in a sp shadow game no less)

I checked the save, and will assume you haven't played already. The barbs killed the spider, which was a smart move, and it looks like they might consolidate to attack in one big group. Why is Raider's Retreat building a market instead of infinite warriors? Let Triikor heal to full health instead of making more attacks - he's our best defender by far.

Thanks Dave, yeah, reportage shortage as I was out of town this weekend until an hour or so ago. Here's the smart barbs' Spider attack, which I'll take I guess for the goblin not dying. Ignore the market, it's still in the queue from before we had a mega-stack incoming.
The four warriors from the six-man stack did splash themselves against the defenders this turn, allowing a couple of promotions. Now only 18 warriors remain, with, thankfully, the goblin as well.
The reason I'm happy the goblin made it is that with a nationality declaration the second giant spider was able to make it in to Raiders, so it is going to be very powerfully defending along with the five warriors and two lizardmen. This will be an epic battle, lads.
Honestly, if we make it next turn I'm going to feel pretty good about our position here. This lush land makes Exp a great trait, and once we have a mobile horseman army the beyond-the-vines settlements ought to be secure from anything this side of vampires.
Let's cross fingers.

Fingers crossed! If the big stack is no better at attacking than the small stack was, we stand a good chance here (two of their attacks apparently did zero damage). The spider could be very helpful, his first strike could be a big factor.

In my experience, an unpromoted warrior defending a city will survive 2 or 3 battles with an unpromoted warrior attacking from outside, and go down on the 3rd or 4th. Spiders don't receive defensive bonuses, right? In that case, the spider is probably worth about the same. The lizardmen are quite a bit stronger (are they fortified there?) but wounded. I'd say sim it out, but it looks like the die is cast. I think the smart money is on survival, but I'll keep my fingers crossed nonetheless.

The save came in at the end of my lunch hour. I couldn't stand the suspense, so I took a quick peek.

The Goblin shouldn't matter. Spiders should be visible when they are inside of cities.

As Dave said:
Awesome. What Dave did not mention is that the other hill has sent another horde our way. Heh, a mere ten warriors? Phah, they are nothing. That's even assuming they don't crash headfist into the vines.
Today, then, is a doubly momentous day for the Hippus. Now we finally know what to do with our horsies: We ride them!
All throughout the land (okay, in just Return right now, but soon elsewhere too) warrior builds were halted as the frontier looks safer, and stables were begun. Need to make more mines, these cities are all kinda commerce-focused at the moment.
Good thing HBR is in and the power is spiking, because these demos would have me extremely worried if I was someone else. Dogpile us, dudes, or we're going to gallop away!
For now, though, it's party time.
