Erodan is a corruption of Eridan due to typos. Eridan is a hopeless, frequently rejected romantic: So the word "ero", like "erotic", works perfectly.
Likewise, his object of attraction early on is Feferi: So right above Feferi are Eridan and Erodan, which in turn are alone and seperated from the empire.
Equius is STRONG and has a very big horse theme, so for the pretty strong, horse providing military city, it seemed obvious.
Karkat is constantly raging for various reasons and hides his blood color: So he gets two city sites that hide behind others and don't do much, for him to rage at.
Nepeta Leijon has Leijon mostly because I ran out of names, but the Sheep fits well her animal theme, along with the wide-open grassland.
Sollux Captor is a very much Knight in Sour Armor type technology guy, so he gets the tech providing Flood Plains city: But he also has telekinesis and EYE LASERS, so he gets the strong military providing Captor site. In addition, bifurcation is a huge theme for him: A strong producer and a strong researcher next to each other are perfect bifurcation.
Aradia Megido is...well...

^You put a lot more thought into your city names than I do mine
In regards to the dot map, there are 6 wasted riverside grassland tiles among others. I would recommend rethinking a couple city placements and packing them closer together.
I don't have much to do at work today, so if you send me the screenshot I'll play with the dotmap.

Eh...they're not really wasted. No nearby food resources...I'd rather stick a filler cottage city in there...
Will that do?

Davy captured my one concern with the cities, those gap riverside tiles. My only other question, how are you going to be using your Cre/Phi specialist focus? Kill did manage to give you all one of the most ridiculously fertile maps in the history of the universe, any plans on farming places and getting the Pyramids for representation-powered scientists in your cheap libraries and later cheap universities? If you can snag rep each scientist is a riverside town for beakers, and makes 6gpp every turn too.

I can't see myself getting the Pyramids unless by the time I hook up stone it's still avalibile. 500 hammers is too expensive, as the Mids usually are.
I plan on using my Philo specialist focus to bulb two techs and still get an Academy at a date at or earlier than everyone else, while using my Cre to not have to worry about border expansions or building/chopping Obelisks.
On the gap riverside tiles: on the hill 1 N-Left(I forgot which way that is @_@) the claimed copper. City there. There, now they're being worked. 1S of that gives more riverside and no coastal, might be better.

The blue tiles are wasted grassland tiled. Basically I moved Captor and Aradia Megido and added two filler cities. The number are the order I would settle them in, but take whatever I say with a grain of salt
Explanations
4: Moved south to pick up more grassland and to get the 2 hammer start, which it will probably need as a 'push' city.
2: Moved west so it shares corn with Equius in order to get up and running faster
7: Redeems those riverside grassland tiles, uses grassland sheep as it's food resource.
8: Pure and simple fishing village, shares fish with your cap.

Pyramids would be a really solid build if you can net them (just go look at NoSpace's play in PBEM17 using representation powered specialists) made all the more powerful by your philosophical. You might build a forge and run an engineer in the HG city to pop out a GE to rush them.
