The worker I used as bait is still alive and the road complete. Net positive.
Commodore has not blockaded me, so diverting from the micro plan has now delayed the completion of MoM. Net negative.
Sian's failed invasion cost me three chariots (60h) to his 5 HAs (165h) and 1 Skirmisher (16h), and generated a GG for both of us. Large gain for me over Sian. I'd call this a positive exchange for me over Commodore and Slow as well. I'd trade 60h for a General and access to the Heroic Epic any day.
Used the GG for a Supermedic. I love having one of these available.
Slowcheetah is still sitting in Rimmer with his army, no change.
Great Scientist will build an academy next turn in Dark Heart.
Next turn Commodore will pillage one of my seafood resources. There is nothing I can do to prevent this.

I don't really know if I'm in a race or not, I haven't checked the espionage screen. I am fairly confident that I'll get it, though. No one else had teched Calendar by the time I did, and no one else has marble. Commodore could have since, but I don't think he has that many chops to overtake me. As for whipping, I couldn't whip before the hammers from last turn were added, now it is a 2 pop whip. Or, I could just starve and complete it this turn by swapping the sheep for the PH mine. That is probably what I'll do.
Be careful, you may want to sim to make sure the MoM finishes if you opt to starve. If you lose the population point before it contributes its hammers (reasonable) you may end up short anyway.

List format again, this is easier to put a turn report together quickly.
I whipped the MoM to completion. 2 pop whip, very likely unnecessary as I don't think anyone else was all that close, if they even pursued it. The best I could do was 300/301 this turn without the whip. We'll grow back quickly. Com, good job harassing me enough to make me think I had to deviate from the micro plan.
Speaking of Commodore, he has not blockaded me but rather gone directly for my seafood at Megatron. Good play. He pillaged the clams this turn (causing unhealthiness and delaying growth in DH) and will reach/pillage my crab with his Nav I trireme next turn. In response, I double whipped a trireme and will overflow/complete a second next turn. Then we'll see what happens. I expect disaster if he stacks his units. Maybe I'll hold until I can whip a third trireme. This is getting expensive.
The other negative consequence of Commodore having numerical superiority is that he now has two galleys and some axes to take out The Kraken. While I'd prefer to avoid this, there is little that I can do at this point to avoid it. I can't reinforce it. I'm going all in on my attempt to kill his triremes, which probably means waiting to attack until I have a third in the water. If only the earlier combat roll had gone my way, I'd own this sea by now. I guess my luck vs. Sian makes up for it, but this is frustrating.
I've concluded that I need a second city on this pond to reinforce the islands. It will go as marked on the overview, now that I know where the iron is (or, rather isn't, since I didn't want to settle on it). From that location I can grow to size 2 using the capital's corn and then work mines and pump out boats as needed. I will build this city as soon as I can. Assuming the Kraken gets destroyed, I don't want Commodore to settle on the island, so having my culture established by The Kraken and then supported by a land-based city should prevent him settling there due to lingering culture second ring.
Slowcheetah is still sitting in Rimmer with his army. He added a new catapult. If he wants to smash it against my city, I'm fine with that. Now is a good time for me now that Sian has been thwarted for the moment.
Great Scientist built the academy in Dark Heart. Game high GNP currently.
Highlighted, you see Commodore's invasion force. Buh-bye, sweet Kraken, you've served your purpose.

More seriously than what I just put in the tech thread, you're going to give me a general outline of what you want accomplished, right? Otherwise I'm going to spam horse archers or defensive units for Monty Burns because that nice marble mausoleum you've built doesn't actually do a lot unless you own it when you want to start a golden age. So I assume that means you'll want to keep it and not let it be overrun by your friendly neighbors. Maybe the MoM will turn out like one of those redneck electrical bug zappers -- they'll swarm to it like flies and drop dead when they hit it. Is that why you built it?

Commodore pillaged my second seafood resource. Maybe he's going to do the same to Sian now. I no longer have visability on his two galleys. I'm not sure what that portends, but if The Kraken is still alive when I open the save then I can reinforce it from Megatron next turn, escorted by two triremes.
Slow moved his three catapults out of Rimmer, presumably to the west. I'm wondering if Commodore is moving in on Slow's coastal city? I wouldn't mind this, I just hope it's bloody. However, if Slow can hang on, that's just one more enemy for Commodore on the pond. It's on the other side from me, so not really an issue for me as it is for Com.
I'm finally making an effort to put in the last cottages at CC. Long overdue, but I have feared Sian attacking out of the fog across the border. I believe now that he may be reluctant to risk his remaining attackers, so I'm going to try. In another couple of turns, I'll move my workers from Monty Burns to Megatron and try to finish mining on the border hills.
Not sure if I mentioned it elsewhere, Commodore built the Hanging Gardens.
I think Sian founded Confucianism.

Going for max overflow in 2T to start the forge after the Hindu spread.
CC:
More HAs for now. I'll build Cats elsewhere since I have the stable here.
M:
Carefully managing micro here. I had to use the farmed plains last turn to 1t the trireme and still grow, no overflow on hammers or food. Next turn max hammers, following turn double whip (again ), then 1t WB on overflow + turn production. IF I can manage not to lose my triremes again.
S:
I think I'm caught up on archers for now. This city really needs the wheat tile badly. I can't keep working the gold here much longer if the whipping emergency continues in Megatron.
MB:
I'll build cats here and let Com and Slow both see them. Invade at your peril.
TK:
Two more turns and I can reinforce and keep this city. Fingers crossed.

Today's mood: I'm fearful for my brave little Kraken.

I built it to use it. It isn't time to use it quite yet. I'll leave you a bit of a plan, but I'll be gone for over a week, incommunicado, so you'll have to make some decisions too. Don't screw it up.
Generally, building units is good. Strategic plan is to control the inland sea and play defense elsewhere. We have two mainland sites to settle, both should get up and running quickly. But we need to control the sea.
Commodore razed The Kraken. One more turn and I could have reinforced. Surely he knew this, good play Com. He used 3 axes and a chariot in an amphibious assault. My axe killed his two axes (4.2%, 9.9%), then his axe killed my spear (75%), then his chariot killed my axe (95.4%). Good plan, well executed, goodbye Kraken. This is another consequence of the two lost 32% battles, as he could not have made this assault so soon otherwise, and I'd have reinforcements any later than this. Civ is a snowball game in many ways.
I did not scout Rimmer this turn, opting instead to pillage Com's horses. This token resistance is all I can do for now.
Sian moved off the hill observing CC. Now that he has a hill on the other diagonal, he can see into my city anyway. I thought about taking possession of the hill, but ultimately decided I had too few defenders in CC to make that move. I built an archer and queued up another. If the hill is empty next turn, I'll consider occupying it.
Completed Construction, set tech to Currency and killed research.
Moved some workers toward Megatron to get started mining the hills. I moved two covering archers to the hill south of Megatron in anticipation of this work.

Not sure where I thought the Hindu missionary was last turn, but it spread this turn so I started on the forge. I should be able to net both the clams and crabs before the forge finishes to alleviate some of the unhealthiness.
CC:
Sian unexpectedly moved his units off the hill, so I was tempted to road up to it and install myself as the new occupant, but I declined for now. I did not have enough units in the city to feel truly comfortable with that, so a couple of 1T archers later, if it is still open I'll take it. In the meantime, cottaging continues.
M:
I've whipped heavy and often here. If only I could have managed to get the forge in first, these would be more profitable whips. I need the third trireme, though. I can't afford to go through another whip cycle like this for boats. I need to get the seafood back up and get this city growing to work mines for some sustainable production. If not for Swiper starving without the wheat, I could keep this up indefinitely at Megatron. But, it's still better to grow and lay off the whip.
S:
Now that the two cottages are coming into their own, the library will help.
MB:
Going kind of blind here this turn as I did not scout into Slow's territory with Lewis and Clark. Rather, I had that unit pillage Com's horses. This meek response is all I can do right now.
TK:
I was afraid this would happen. I sent this picture to Commodore with the save.

There will be blood. Rest now, my brave little Kraken.
Commodore is blockading the inland sea. Have I mentioned that I hate this mechanic? I have two triremes that I could sail onto one of my resources and protect it, but the blockade is still in effect. This is the worst design choice in the game, IMO. If there is one you hate worse (OK, civic swap is worse), post it. I'm in a mood to bitch.
Commodore is no idiot, he had a spear in waiting to kill my chariot. Note to self: no more impulsive unit moves.
Hey Com, any chance you want to mess with Sian a bit? See that red city? The one with the seafood resource and NO NAVY??? Détente is for wimps. At least make him spend some hammers.
Still cottaging around CC. Completed a second archer. City growth in 1T, may churn out one more archer, then the 3T settler.
I could 1T Iron Working now that everyone else has it. I need Currency worse. I'll 2T it after saving this turn.
Workers on the hill near Megatron. Road, then with an additional worker will mine the following turn. Unless Sian kills them all. His power is back up to #1. All these little cities are helping him. I've been too passive in expansion, I need to get my cities out ASAP. Jungle spot, then the NW spot, then hopefully two islands. If I were Com, I'd be loading up another galley with axes, kill my spear on the stone tile island, and plant there. As much as I'd like to share the corn with the capital, I can keep control of that tile by building 1N of the "City" sign. As soon as that location pops second ring borders, Com would be locked out of settling the island.

Today's mood: I fucking hate blockades. I don't mind if he parks his boats on my tiles all day long, I can live with that because he's outplayed me. But a two move boat with a three-ranged blockade? Come on. Seriously. Who thought that was logical or fun?
