For example, i stumbled into forced mate twice in that endgame despite being up 2 pawns. I thought I had avoided the "TONS" of traps i mentioned earlier, but apparently i just avoided the obvious ones.

Well, since it was a mate in ~11 moves you missed I wouldn't worry too much. lol I personally didn't have the slightest idea when looking over the game.

I liked waterbats win as black against uberfish. Nice transition into a won pawn endgame, with the precise finishing touch 37...b3!

there were a lot of hidden tactics in that game, we both missed the queen exchange idea until that move. I think 23 Nf4! would have kept my initiative

Yes, and it seem 28.Nd3 was a bad move as well. Why did you discard the idea of 28. Rxc6?
It's a little ironic: On move 23 you grab a pawn you shouldn't have taken and on move 28 you don't take the pawn when you should have. wink

a quick run in Deep Fritz (blunder check) confirms what we thought as the turning points for white: 23. Rxa6 and 28. Nd3

position after 22...Rfc8

Fritz shows that arrow as a threat, but i only found bad lines if i took on b3 for example, 23. Ng6 Bxb3 24. Rxf5 gxf5 26. Qh6+ Kg8 27. Nf6#

As played - 23. Rxa6 Rxa6 24. Rxa6 ..... i realized Qe6 was really strong - at least gave me some chances for a draw - with the only extra pawn a doubled b pawn and white's isolated pawn in the center - i really liked Qe6 right away due to the ability to simplify everything on e1. Verifying it - Fritz was showing -0.3 or so after this move.

just a note - fritz is so great - i havent run it since back in the days of my single core box. Now i can put 4 hyperthreaded cores on it - its insane.

i came back to my game with azza this morning and i was like "i dont recognize this position at all", then realized i had gone a little crazy with the conditional moves.

THEN regoarrarr 's game popped up just now and i must have went batshit crazy on the conditional moves in that one - either that or i have been playing in my sleep.

They hurt when they can't be countered. Which is exactly what arose due to 24. Rxa6. Youch.

Hindsight is so glorious. If I was playing I'd be doing much, much worse than all of you I'd assume.

Even after pulling off 2 forks, my game v azza game very close. played the last 15 moves with mate in 1 hanging over me if I lost momentum
