Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

[SPOILERS] Dhal gets ready to bungle another game (oh yeah some guy is dedlurking)

In terms of the geopolitical situation, apart from the Azza/TBS conflict stated above, nothing else really exciting is happening. It won't be long before dtay tackles BaII or starts to swallow azza from the other direction. Or maybe he will do nothing, since there's still a few spots up for grabs in the peaceful settling race, and we don't even know if there's any land out there that's locked behind Astronomy tech.

Time for another big update.

The situation upon loading into this turn, turn-92.

Just finished paper, and taking Machinery next. I believe BaII is not that close to Macemen, and having them myself would be a major deterrent to any attempts to take any of my land.

South half of the empire

North half of the empire

Next settling spot. This spot sits on a banana resource, and picks up fish and clams besides. Will be a decent central whipping location for naval units. I don't know what's in the fog south of the city, but even if the answer is nothing, that's still a good location and worth settling. Also not aggressive to anyone, really.

Demographics

I'm solidly in third place. Azza and BaII are in fourth and fifth, I don't really know who is who down there. TBS is in the middle of absorbing Azza, and BaII is inevitably going to become dtay's target.

I just finished a round of courthouses and markets in my cities, so my income has gone up and my costs have gone down. My power is lowest second only to Azza, but BaII isn't much higher than me, and he can only hit me at one border city, Hell's Kitchen. I really don't want to fight him, because a whipping frenzy is the last thing I want. But I can defend easily if he does attack.

Oh, and as you can see in the pictures, I have research visibility on BaII and he's going for Feudalism. Now, he may be doing that just for Vassalage, but I think it's more likely that he's doing it for longbows to make himself a harder target for me and dtay.

The problem for him - he has nowhere really to expand. The islands off his coast are taken by TBS, and the mainland sites are all filled up.

Picked up my Academy in the capital, about 30 turns late. Gained 50 beakers per turn, which is nice.

You can tell that TBS and dtay are getting excited about this game again because the turn pace is speeding up and both are reporting vigorously.

Played another turn. Nothing much is happening still. I finished Compass last turn and will 1T Optics this turn. Going to go for Astronomy and see what's in the big blob of black in the middle. Knowing Commodore, he's probably put something stupid there. I very much doubt I'm the first to Astronomy - not with the tech rate of dtay and TBS, but given that I've skipped some of the techs they have, I think I'm only a couple turns behind - and with TBS locked in war and dtay having quite low power rating for his civ size, they might have other priorities.

I really want dtay to hurry up and attack BaII so that I can grab my slice of Mongolia's land.

I had an axe on a galley in the centre sea. BaII left two workers on the coast unprotected. I couldn't leave that alone, even if it means he attacks me. I'm well defended and ahead on tech. I sniped them then deleted both workers and the axe.

Offered immedaite peace.
