[SPOILER] PBEM21, "Zero to Hero" (Kuro, Pericles' Ottomania)

Actually, those can appear in naturally generated maps. I've seen them.

So, Ellimoogle apparantly knows we are going for the Colossus and say they will be "speeding it up greatly".

I think I'm still going to go for it, because I want Forges sooner rather than later(With +3 from Forges/Hammams and +1 from Markets, we will have a high happiness cap!). Also, because including the Forge and that they apparantly seem to intend to still slowbuild it(just faster). So I figure I will still go MC + Maths, because worst case scenario I get Forges, best case scenario I steal Colossus.

They have also apparantly found Stone...the only thing is that I would have to pay a decent amount for it. I don't need it for the Gardens and I don't know if the Mids are worth it. So...hm.

So hopefully RB being down for so long will not apply to my luck...

Feferi finishes the Library, but I need something to build while waiting to grow, which since I have to grow cannot be a Worker/Settler. After a moment, I decide to go for a Lighthouse, for +1 food on the fish and making the water tiles worthwhile. It's not like it needs a Barracks or units yet.

The HMS New Zealand drops off Abby on to the mainland and will drop off both Settlers next turn after picking them up this turn!

I met NobleLewwyn and sent them the following message:

Kuro Wrote:I have not sent the save along yet, but this turn my Work Boat has met your borders.

We come in a kind of peace and do not carry a large stick nor large guns. We do, however, bring plenty of large fishing nets and rum!

I don't have much to say right now, aside from the usual "We are open to trades!" and stuff. I offered Open Borders because I would like my Work Boat to pass through your lands to find Ellimoogle's. I hope you will accept. smile

Eridan's fish are netted and the Workers are off to pasture the pigs.

Tony reveals a nice spot...I will add another city to that plains hill offically later.

EOT, Feferi grows. It'll actually probably work off the Ivory and begin a Scientist specialist though, to advance Scientist date by 1T.

That's all really.

I know you're mocking me in there, Lurker thread!

Which plains hill?

Also, the jungled equatorial region is good from a defensive perspective as it will make it harder for Ellimoogle to come at you overland.

Yeah, sorry, I didn't notice the plains hill wasn't in the shot until I posted...I'll take a picture when I get the save, yeah?

Turn in.

I'll show a deal I made later(I got too busy to post it when happening), but the USS Thunderchild is leaving my hands for now and going to Noble. Also they have a Settler in their capital.

With NAP in hand, Ari can go defog shit by Jkioan. Not anything this turn though.

Both Workers can improve Pigs next turn, while Abby is prepping for copper getting online.

Nice cities here. Clams/Pigs with Banana/Spices/Rice, maybe?

Here is the Plains Hill city I forgot was not in the city. I am probably keeping Captor where it is, so it'll take the copper, while Rose will be a good commerce city.

Settlers on the mainland...Sollux should be 3T, Aradia Megido 7T.

Turn end. I'm really needing to get out extra Workers because I am going too slow...

Diplomacy or Why NobleLewwyn Won't Make Many Friends

As usual, spoilered for length. This starts from when I met them last turn.

NobleLewwyn Wrote:Greetings! I have heard that your work boat was coming up to meet me and would be due any turn now.

Not to be abrupt, but I have a proposal for you actually. It involves a few parts but it's basically pretty simple.

1) We sign Open Borders. You get more trade routes.
2) Next turn, you move your work boat into my borders and gift it to me.
3) I will move the work boat over to EMC and gift it to them.
4) EMC's work boat, which is headed south to Jkioan which I'm sure you've seen, will keep going south and then west and into your territory, whereupon he will gift it to you.

I believe this is a beneficial deal for all of us, so I hope you'll accept. It's the fastest way for everyone to get his work boat back to his lands and use it for some fish or whatever, and you immediately get more trade routes. I've already mentioned it to Ellimist and he is cool with the idea.

Kuro Wrote:I...don't really need my Work Boat for fish or anything. Everything I need netted is already netted. All I really care about is getting over to Ellimoogle to defog trade routes with him so I can...um...get trade routes with him since he is getting some with me.

Granted, I immedietely get TRs with you, but I won't be getting any with Ellimoogle then...

Shrug.

NobleLewwyn Wrote:Well, I don't see why it matters who you get trade routes with. And trade routes now is surely better than trade routes later.

Kuro Wrote:Well, I'd prefer to get Trade Routes is both is why. :P Dunno why we can't just open borders like normal(I am pretty sure my cities can only hold one TR, so I imagine you would be getting the better end of the deal).

NobleLewwyn Wrote:You're free to get trade routes by defogging your regular path to EMC wink. I will not get any trade routes with you at the moment, because I haven't defogged a path to you.

Kuro Wrote:Derp, that's true.

I guess that's an acceptable deal, then...

NobleLewwyn Wrote:ay, we've already discussed this separately and basically agreed to it, so I'd like to formalize it now. Do we definitively agree to the following three-party multilateral deal?

1) I sign open borders with Kuro this turn (1400 BC, turn 65).
2) On the following turn (turn 66), Kuro enters my borders with his work boat and gifts it to me.
3) I will then move the work boat over to EMC and gift it once I've established trade routes.
4) EMC will move their work boat south and then west and then gift it to Kuro.

Kuro Wrote:Sure, I'll agree to this.

As Ellimoogle pointed out, the whole reason any of this happened is NobleLewwyn doesn't wanna spend a mere 30 hammers on a WB. Ordinarily I wouldn't take this deal and it honestly annoys me a little we couldn't just have a simple Borders trade, but I knew flatout rejecting would just close the doors in diplo given it's Lewwyn, so I went along with it.

Sigh.

I'm still getting Maths, at the same time.

I could self-research it, but I've already pointed out a Scientist won't be useful for an Academy for me until...about when I would pop another one out. And I can't grab Currency until I get it anyway, so I figure pop out a Scientist, Maths bulb, steal an important wonder from a friend. Technically speaking, I don't even have to go for the Colossus and I might not, but I'd just be teching something else right now instead and MC is as good a tech as anything.
