Made the northern scout move:
Wait, what's that on the hill?
Do we want to modify our dot map?

A gold city that shares food with our Capitol? Yes, I think we need to go for that. Let's explore the area and then we can work the micro.

Is the tile S of the gold a forest?

M&M met us in game, this was in the team email account
HBHR, wanna draft a response? I'm going to acknowledge receipt of the email and tell them we'll get back to them soon

M&M scout, that's actually pretty close, unless they beelined our position
Moved the scout SE, now what? South or to the gold. Personally, I'd prefer the gold.

What I'd like to include in our response:
-A courtesy NAP(50 turns?) to get relations off on the right foot. Obviously, it won't really matter as we all have scouts, but it is a nice gesture
-EP spending agreement
-An idea of their surroundings, something like, "we have noticed a water barrier to our north and tundra to our south, what does it look like at your capital?"
-Asking the rough distance between our two capitals
-Maybe tell them that to the NE of their scout is jungle, so they may be better served looking to the south?
I'll post my thoughts on the team later

My hunch is they travelled due east from their cap with the goal of making contacts. The corn is at least 5 tiles from their cap. Assuming they are thinking things through (which is not always a good assumption) it doesn't make sense for them to continue east if they're scouting potential city sites. So 16-18 tiles between caps? Nice thing about being a dedlurker is I don't need to stress out about this stuff Pay attention to the power graph I guess?
Diplomacy is hard, so I'm not sure I have much to say about that. I like the idea of building trust - but I wouldn't say anything about going south with their scout. Let them get bogged down in jungle and I would prefer if they didn't see our gold If they're seeking contacts, their instinct will be to follow the coast. EP agreement - yes. Coast-Tundra idea of surroundings - yes. Kind of iffy on NAP talk since I don't know the players (happy with anything other than Rome and Ponies, really) - will an NAP tempt them to plant a pink dot in our face t35 and say NAP LULZ? I guess the idea is to stay positive, straightforward, and genuine.
I'm thinking second city 1N of the gold, but obv is worth thinking about the micro.

Hmmm... I take that back about the scout. Seeing the wheat and tempting DOW is worse. I think its worth offering information about our cap both to motivate travel south and to encourage reciprocity.
"Our capitol is on the shore of a salt-water lake. We have a jungle along the coast to our north and tundra to the south. Are you seeking contacts? If so the fastest path east is etc. etc"
Arrgh.. I said I wasn't going to think about this stuff. HBHR you do the diplomacy however you like, I'll help deal with the result as it comes!

About our scout, i think is better move it to gold hill (i try join rigth now but i can´t pass the M&M firewall )
I think 50 turn NAP is good for us, because we are not yet planning build strong defence in the first 40-50 turns. I don't believe they are planning attack us sooner, but is better build confidence; "pink dot" is legendary, but if we don´t sign NAP, we need change our entire strategy, since without NAP they can do it the same and we'll have not army to refuse. They can read the Demo info for sure.
EP spending agreements? yes, we can ask them about that.

About "to exchange information about our world and neighborhood" i think is better be honest, since for sure they discover soon that we lie to them, and this is not good start.
