[Spoilers] What, no fireballs?! Team FFH: we're not in Erebus anymore

DaveV Wrote:It seems to me that we should be researching Iron Working and Calendar, since the bananas are the best nearby food resource we have. We could work bananas and (dry) rice by building 4S of the copper, and bananas and sugar by building 1E of the site I proposed to sunrise.

Do we have a long-term plan? The discussion in this thread has kind of petered out, and Ichabod is just playing along.

Well, losing the Great Wall was unfortunate, it was due in two turns with the chop, but we can still recover. We have a big pile of gold right now and we have a high GNP.

My idea right now is this: tech writing and build a library in GAO! for a GS to make an academy in the capital. Writing is needed for mathematics, calendar and so forth, so it's a good tech anyway.

I want to settle a city in the gold/corn site to the east. It's very far, but it's by far the best place we can settle in the short term. City 3 is purely a support city for the capital, since we couldn't afford to settle the eastern site (it'll grow cottages + the cow and most likely work the gold when the capital is growing). You can see that we have two axes patrolling that area right now, fogbusting the barbs. The settler will be made with a chop + whip in the capital, when it grows back to size 6.

Meanwhile, we need to tech IW and Calendar, since I agree with DaveV that that's our only source of decent food around. We will need mathematics, sailing and archery is not a bad idea too.

I'm sorry, guys, but I'm probably one of the worst teammates ever. I really like playing Civ games, but my reporting skills sucks. And while I have time to play the games I'm signed to, I take too long to make reports and it's hard to find the time.

Alright, played the turn, I agree with going for our UU, after that, I'd like to see how many cities we can plop down before trying for the HG. I'm torn between IW and Maths.

We meet Rome next turn.

Do we want to meet Rome? We would get the known tech bonus, but is it better than the advantages of knowing an enemy position without they knowing yours?

I bet two axes in a galley would be a big surprise for them lol.

I promise to make some plans this weekend. I'll have a good amount of free time!

Ichabod Wrote:Does it take into account the food we spend on the 2 turns building the settler? If I'm not mistaken, we will receive at least some food from the turn the granary completed (I think I read this in a thread by SevenSpirits and Novice, so it's reliable enough - only possible mistake is if I misunderstood what they said), it'll be recorded in the granary food box.

Dammit, wrote a long post about this and then Safari crashed.

The short of it is that you misunderstood us. smile
I have to run.

Is that Rome or China (pindicator)? Since we know pindicator was exploring near us already, I think China is more likely. Anyway, I vote for *not* making contact. Tech bonus is pretty small with this many teams (about 1%, I think).

lol I was expecting that!

But we grew back to size 5 in 1 turn and the food box was more than half full after the whip. Maybe the granary takes into account food used in a settler than.

I'll have to find your post and read it more carefully.

So, you crashed the game to keep from making a report? That's some first-class procrastination!

Yeah, it was unfortunate. At least it was an interesting bug...

Ok, maybe I'll just appoint myself secretary. In the east, our settler is three turns away from an awesome (once its borders pop) grass/gold city:

Meanwhile, to the west, our core cites are cottaging and growing. GAO!'s borders will pop over the fish next turn, and the workboat is waiting to build nets.
