I am glad you brought this, I was just about to comment about this as well.

I don't like the fact that this move is legal. I spoke against it twice already but the proposal to change it has been voted down twice in RBP1. Some player even said s/he would not play if the motion was approved.

I am doing it here both to bring attention to it, and to not put our team to an unnecessary disadvantage. However, according to our plan, there would be little they can do anyway even if we waited (I hope smile ).

I would like to ask the lurkers for advice here, but I am pretty sure that this move is legal. Rego himself, I think, used it against Exploit.

@zakalwe: What you suggested is very interesting, and we'll consider it... Thanks for the suggestion. So far we held the turn not so much on purpose but mostly because both Athlete and I are busy and had quite a bit to decide.

Athlete,

I played the turn as it's the second time we are last and I don't want to hold the game. I sent the settler to the horse/cow coastal city. I didn't end turn, as I wasn't sure about what to do with some of the warriors. I am a bit concerned about tipping Byz about our intentions with the warrior W of their capital, so be careful with it.

So t0, you move the 4 chariots to the hill at 5 minutes on the timer.
T1 rolls over, you declare war and attack immediately.

If you declared war on t0, instead of t1, then this would be illegal. But by delaying the war declaration to t1, it becomes legal to do this. The war declaration should not be the determining factor here. I think you're bending good faith, although less than rego did to Exploit in RBP1.

First some diplomacy updates:

E-mail from Greece:
Quote:Hey again

Glad you like the "name" :P It's obviously not my real name, I enjoy my anonymity here in the internets. Anyway not much to comment on the game.. Keep us updated on what's happening out there. I agree that right atm there might not be that much we can do together. Friendly relations sounds good to me. Maybe we can work out something more concrete sometime in the future.

E-mail from Inca:
Quote:Hi Team AK,

We have revised our dotmap to accomodate your requests. We have ensured zero overlap with your copper city, however, two of our future planned cities have minimal overlap with your planned cities. Our city north of our capital will have two tiles of overlap with your peak-cattle city (although since you will be settling it first, you are likely to be keeping those tiles) and our city south of your western coast city has one tile of overlap. I feel like this is reasonable, but I would like to hear your input smile

Kodii for IKZ

and a quick follow-up from Inca:
Quote:Disregard the overlap for your western coast city

- Kodii

From Kalin in response:
Quote:Hi Team IKZ,

A quick ack on your email and a thank you. I will discuss with Athlete and get back to you with more details but I think your proposal is acceptable.

Let's also choose a NAP to go with this land partition. I am thinking to a NAP in perpetuity with a cool-off period and a minimum duration.

And an e-mail from Rome:
Quote:Dear Athlete and Kalin,

I would like to mention that the Koreans have moved their Warrior further east. So unless you want to try chasing him, it would probably be quicker just to move west through my territory until you reach Korean territory.

Regarding espionage, I would happily make an agreement along the lines you suggested. That was as much as I planned to invest, anyway. I seriously doubt that either of us are in a position to perform subterfuge upon the other, nor would we want to, so this seems like a very logical proposal. As you may have noticed, I have already begun spending espionage points on your civilization, but I will stop once I am able to see your demographics chart.

I cannot think of any additional, pressing matters at the moment, but I plan to stay in contact. I imagine that we will have more to discuss when we each contact more of the other civilizations out there in the world.

A quick run through.

Inca:
Seems like we're getting somewhere with them. We are giving up an awful lot though considering how much land they have to expand into in the south. Honestly the way I feel right now if we can eliminate Byzantine I'd want to either take it right to the Inca or do so as soon as we're done expanding and can muster it up. Will have to see how it unfolds. Oh and I suppose I'm ok with the 1 tile overlap at our coastal city.

Byzantine:
KILL, MAIM, DESTROY :hwar1:
Need I say more?

Greece:
Potential ally down the road. Not much to comment on here.

Rome:
Ideally they'll expand towards Inca and hit them with Agg Praets. Doesn't sound like Rome is much up for that yet but who knows. They'll probably use them against Korea and let Inca steal up all that land. frown
Whosit didn't pick up that we had already met Korea as well.

Korea:
Hopefully they'll get bogged down in a war against Rome. Not much here.

I believe once we get past Korea we'll have the HRE, Mali and then India to meet. Or if Dice had been able to continue scouting she would have met India, Mali and the HRE.

kalin Wrote:I may be missing something but I don't think they will... We move on the hill while we are still at peace, then end turn, declare war so the chariots can move without waiting since it's the first turn of the war. Am I missing something?

Kalin

Regarding the rules I was under the impression that once you declare war you have to wait 12 hours and then move. I have looked at them and read the current version and find that stipulation no longer present. Was that removed at some point or has it always been the case for RBPB#2? By my understanding this allows a first turn "double" as Kalin is planning. I'm ok with this as by how I read it, it does seem allowable and it seems to allow for surprise attacks which is something I believe quite essential for success. However once the initial turn is over it is probably best to get a turn sequence with them so as we won't have to count 12 hours for each unit.

I think we need to get this city connected to Coruscant asap. This will allow for the trade route but at this juncture more importantly to build chariots which it will be able to do quite well. Also right after connecting it the worker that does it could also move to connect the cows up. I would have preferred Beru move to the forest 1W of the horses rather than where she is now to chop as this would have allowed her to do so after that but maybe we need both over there to get that last road? I haven't looked closely at it but I thought Owen would be able to get that done in time by himself.

Sent a quick message through the civstats diplomacy to Korea just to make sure we are using the correct e-mail address.

So what's the plan for T52?

Settler moves to hill.
Dice's movement is mapped out.
Ellorrs should probably go 2x NW dependant upon Rome's road network.
Momaw Nadon?
Bo Shek?

Owen go to the spot to road? Byzantine will see that.
I believe they can actually see Beru chopping. Also I think they might have finally started applying more than one espionage to us. They're at 18 now. We'll see on T52.

I guess chariots stay put until ready? They go to rice and then move to launch pad when it's a go? Oh I renamed the chariot to Dack Ralter smile.

Are you sure we'll be able to whip next turn without anything into the chariot? I guess we'll see.

Any thoughts you can post would be appreciated (or e-mailed). I know we're both busy now so do what you can.
