Eg. time-shifting your research multipliers.

I don't remember tech costs, but if this is a possibility I suggest we just work on hunting until it's done.

If we just switch to pottery we don't have to worry about known tech bonus ever being an issue. I am against teching mining for 1 turn. I'd rather simply tech pottery for a few turns instead.

If we delay hunting in any way, we might meet someone who has hunting before we finish it. This would then cause us to lose a beaker from our overflow out of hunting.

I very much doubt there is a chance of anyone meeting us on T9, given the huge tracts of land on this map.

and cash upgrading, which IMHO is non-trivial. Is there any disadvantage to going binary with this much time on our hands?

When does beaker decay set in? 50 turns?
I think I will just switch it to Pottery for one turn, seeing as this is our next planned tech.

Disagree.

If we are to mess with people by doing counter-C&D, do it effectively.

If it's apparent that we do research swaps, then we lose the entire point of doing the swap in the first place.

Ok, Mining it is then.
We will switch back to the Hunting->Pottery line next turn to make sure we don't accidentally mess up our worker plan. Because we need Pottery in by turn 22!

I don't think switching to pottery will be ineffective though. A small change in one team's GNP is very hard to attribute at this stage of the game and is much more likely to be chalked up to someone switching tiles, which will only throw off the other teams C&D more. I say switch to pottery.

Yup. And so people will make the mistake to think we researched Mining first, not Hunting. Misdirection, not flamboyance. Remember, the things that surprise people most isn't what they don't know, it's what they think they know that is wrong.
