Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

RBP3 [Spoilers] Capac of Mali

My preferred option is go with AH after Agri because we don't get much turn advantage from the chops & whip needed with Agri-BW: net 2 turns (1 turn for the pending revolt to Slavery in Agr-AH).

The extra commerce is an added bonus for Agri-AH (though by no means a crucial one).

The downside to Agri-AH is not knowing where Copper is until 1 turn after the settler is out, but this is counterbalanced by Horses being revealed. Moving to metagame thinking, I would say we're likely to have Horses nearby, but Copper is less certain, given that we could have Iron instead.

PS: playing around with the revolt timing in my Agri-BW test, it appeared to me that going into anarchy directly after completing a tech vaporized the overflow beakers. Is that correct, or am I smoke

Another turn, another hill or two:

Swiss Pauli Wrote:I think we can go either way with the FP site: settle on the plains hill 2N of the sheep for production, or on the grass river tile 2N of the silver for a commerce city. Moved NE to reveal more hills & forest:

I was thinking the grass hill for a production site but plains works to. Productions sites are harder to find I think.

I am ok with AH next although I would be surprised if there wasnt metal in thos hills.

Border popped, and I moved SE onto the grass hill as suggested by Daniel:

Not the land of milk & honey, but grass corn is not to be sniffed at I s'pose.

Moving southeast next is tempting to me, but it means the Warrior wouldn't be able to get back to the capital until turn 11.

Swiss's calculations were an average of 238 land tiles per team. If each team's territory was a square, that would be 15 tiles on each side. That seems to indicate to me that it is probably safe to move SE next, and then head SW for several turns in a row.

Does my math sound right? What should we do?

se works for me the odds of someone beelining towards us with a warrior are slim. I would guess in this community and with what happend to Mortis most will be circling close as we are.

I think each team's 'box' would be 15 x 16 (240), and Mortius was eliminated on T13, so let's take the (small) risk that the teams won't be closer than in PB2 and move SE before heading back SW.

Not much of interest revealed, aside from a couple of lions:

Moving SE on the forest hill would be great for fogbusting, but it would mean we could only reach the city tile on T13. Given our postulating on the set-up/metagame, and the fact that the corn is our only revealed food special, I'm in favour of moving SE (and then definitely heading back to Sirian).

I agree se to see those tiles then move back.

Since we all agree, I logged in and moved the Warrior SE. I'll let someone else take the screenshot, but there is a grassland hill with pigs on it 1E of the hill the warrior is on, and grassland Marble 2S of the hill the warrior is on.

If we want to go for the Oracle then I think we should figure out what the fastest way to get it is. We will probably be most limited by our research speed. With 17 teams, I'm not sure if we can even wait to research Masonry if we want to ensure that we get it, which means that the Marble won't really help us. It might be best if we don't even research Animal Husbandry before priesthood, although that would certainly slow down our growth...
