As far as the other question: I believe map dimensions for Huge/Large/... are dependent on map script (consult here). So to guess the water content you would also have to guess the base script, and assume that the mapmaker hasn't manually adjusted the size.

Thanks for updating, this is still a very good read. smile
I think the number of map tiles for a given world size (standard, large, huge, etc) vary depending on the map script used.

EDIT: Dammit, ninjaed. I thought I was this thread's lurker!
I have to run.

That is a huge milestone, your thread is buzzing, cross-post flying all over the place. smile

Yeah we know about the script affecting the size but unfortunately that link only says what size standard is which is a pain. We're jusy interested in seeing whether we'll get any worthwhile use out of our UU and UB.

After seeing PB 1 and 2 maps, I kinda assumed we'd start coastal or be very near to the big blue sea

Hello Mukha and Dantski :D

This if my first ever post on those forums even though I have been lurking for a very very long time. I decided to register an account and de-lurk just to let you know that I think you are HILARIOUS :D

This thread has been extremely entertaining so far. I am planning to actively follow it ^^

I have also decided that you are the team I'm going to be rooting for in RBPB3. I shall use everything in my power as a lurker to DESTROY THE MORALES OF OTHER TEAMS AND HELP YOU RISE TO THE TOP MWAHAHHAHAHAHA!

Muk is skiving again.

Our first warrior is gonna loop round to the desert hill N of our cap while we kill our early growth with 2 workers and a settler. I'm not sure what tack to take with diplomacy considering we will be uber vulnerable early on. Playing the happy peaceful idiot way is best, if a bit boring. Tempted to try the "arrogant ****hole" approach but that may speed our demise up by a few hundred turns.

Hopefully Muk will read this and play the turn (not hard, move 1NE!), because I can't play for 15 hours. 15 hours in our time is equivalent to 219,000 hours for game time considering 40 years per 24 hour turn timer. I don't wanna see our 1000 villagers procrastinating that long

Ok. So 400 years have passed. We found a pig.

I logged in to find our warrior injured to 1.7 and the log revealed some lion combat. A warrior equals 2000 soldiers so doing the math means we lost 300 soldiers to lions in a battle that Dantski didn't even think worth while telling me about. A pitched battle between Portuguese and Lions that would have gone down in history had we the knowledge of writing. But we don't, so it's forgotten already and we've moved on. Had to figure this all out myself. Nobody tells me nothing. Except for our lurkers, thanks for all that info McClure.

Quick question to Dantski not expecting a response - any other animals out there I should know about?

The thing that bothers me about the 4090 land tiles is it's awfully close to a power of 2 - 4096 (2^12) - which is what I would expect total tile size of map to be, implying 4090 land tiles with 6 lake tiles. Hopefully I'm just being paranoid.

Also did this summary based on scores at 3560BC. Haven't kept track of when people founded and when their scores actually increased so I can't be exactly sure of any of this. Is it possible to look back through the log on the civ stats page?

What a hold up, your poor worker must be going through some very intensive investigation before he arrives frown

Anything new going on with WISE WILLEM AND THE POWERFUL PORTUGUESE? Wonderful Willem and the Passionate Portuguese? Werewolf Willem and the Pirate Portuguese? Anything at all? :D

Well we chat most days but updating this thread tires Muk because he doesn't want his posts to be boring like mine!

Basically warrior has scooted past desert hill north of cap and has found a few floodplains next to it (+ plains cow ugh). Not sure if we're going to settle there first instead of furs spot, a little more map info and discussion will decide it.

2nd worker is finished in 1-2 turns (turn just rolled I think) and both workers will chop 3 forests and then farm the corn. I figure after that they'll both go to the 2nd city to put farms up or something.

Also our earlier calculations on number of land tiles 4090, is prompting Muk to believe this is a 64x64 Team Battleground style map with 4 lake tiles. If this is true our Civ's unique abilities are UTTERLY useless.

alright Your posts aren't boring :D And we lurkers are very easy to please btw :D You're the team I'm rooting for whether you guys report or not ^^ (but I'd rather know what's going on with your glorious civ!)

Assuming that Muk's guesses are accurate and your civ's abilities are useless as you say, that's quite unfortunate. BUT, a good thing is that this is a game against human players with diplomacy involved. *IF* what Muk is guessing is correct, you can always spin this to your advantage by trying to appear completely harmless in the eyes of your opponents.
