For some reason it amuses me that we didn't see CivPlayers landing the Oracle coming...

How did we not see it coming? We re-wrote the entire micro plan to finish Oracle a turn sooner, because we knew we were in a race with them. We predicted the exact techs that they would be researching (Priesthood, Writing) and which tech they would take with the Oracle (Code of Laws). Sure, we can't predict the exact turn on which the Oracle would be built, since we have no vision of the capital in question or any idea how they managed their build queue. But I'd argue we did an amazing job of sniffing out exactly what was going on, with a team who we have never met at any point in time.
Was this post intended to be sarcastic (?)

I think the amusing part was supposed to be us not being able to divine the Oracle being built. Because we didn't have an Oracle. That's my most charitable interpretation, anyway.
I have to run.

Yeah, I wrote several long posts analysing exactly how many hammers CivPlayers would require to finish the Oracle on different turns, and how they could get those hammers.
Look at the tech path of CivPlayers: they were on an Oracle->CoL beeline almost from the start. Every single one of their techs but Mining is on that path. They needed to research a total of 1,098 beakers to reach their Oracle target, inclusive Mining.
We took a much more ambitious tech target. We researched 1,368 beakers before we even started on our key enabling tech, which would require an additional 450 beakers. We didn't start thinking about the Oracle until we had finished another wonder 12 turns ago. And we came within 1t of causing a coin-flip!
Maybe we should have skipped the Oracle. Maybe we should have chosen a less ambitious tech target. But in doing so wouldn't have been Realms Beyond. We would have taken the easy path to victory, instead of seeking other and greater challenges. I think Novice, Sevenspirits, and Noblehelium should be proud of their micro planning here, and the rest of the team should be proud over how we managed to execute our opening.
Furthermore, I consider that forum views should be fluid in width

+1. If the plan had worked, it would have been awesome, and would have given us a huge lead. Now we'll have to work harder, but I still like our odds.

Yeah basically that. I guess I missed that discussion, forgive me, I've only really been reading the tracking thread and the first one or 2 pages of the discussion thread. :\
