[SPOILER] Kyan's Thread- FfH2:EitBPBEMXXVII

Aargh sorry for confusion. Meant to say Agrariarism not Conquest. He has Markets and running 1 Merchant in capital. Great Merchant coming in 11T.

Far way from KotE. We don't even have Mystisicm smile. Kyan was probably heading to Firebows 1st.

Here is the power graph. Feeling a bit weakish here lol

Just realised that both of my neighbors are Raiders. Really clever to build some cottages for them lol. Archery is 289 beakers and Bowyers 1350. With current tech rate we're talking about 25T. Probably closer to 20T with hopefully improving economy. This is looking like quite a challenge. I guess I could beeline to Firebows to have even something worthwhile in active defense and not become sitting duck. The question is do I need something before that. I could go Archery-FoL to get me some production to actually build those Firebows or would Conquest make sense? Not sure then I would probably need Sanitation.

Heh... Well, at least we have Bronze Working! smile Better start spamming Warriors after those Settlers finish.

Farmer's gambit needs some mobility as well, so HBR will be very useful (for Mob 1 promo, not Horsemen - brings us closer to Trade as well).

As for religions... the map seems pretty dry, lots of forests, so FoL might not be such a bad idea. Fawns are kick-ass units, and only need religion presence in city and conversion to FoL.

But, I'm thinking we need more visibilty around us. We can get that pretty quickly if we grab KotE, build a half-priced Mage's Guild (Sage slot!), and spam some Metamagic Adepts. Bah, we could have gotten that instead of Writing...

Hannah and Decius?? crazyeye Oh boy..., yes, let's stop building cottages, and start looking at potential bottlenecks in our road network.

I can see Kandros Fir as well, who is Thoth playing?

Yeah Writing feels a massive waste at this point. KotE visibility would be nice, but it doesn't help at all, if we get attacked by overwhelming power and that I think will happen so I think it would be a mistake to go there now. HBR would be immediately useful for our warriors that will have +2 exp now right from the start. It is also cheapish. I'm currently thinking HBR -> FoL, but this is changing every time I look at the grazy amount of alternatives we've.

Thoth is Sheaim. I think Tebryn. He has done very well with very slow starting leader comprable to Valledia's slowness.

I'm already up, but need a little time to think about the tech path so will leave playing to the evening. Any further input to make my desicion harder? wink

Currently I think FoL would be a mistake. Not enough forests without blooming and those would need Priests that are again long way through the tech tree. I'm also not sure how to generate commerce. If we don't cottage, aristocracy should be the choice, but after purposefully ignoring CoL for so long I'm not sure I should switch gears now.

We're going to get Merchant in 11T so here are the potential bulb alternatives assuming they would give me new options to think

1. Currency
2. Mathematics
3. Taxation
4. Mercantilism
5. Trade
6. Warhorses
7. Calendar
8. Agriculture
9. Horseback Riding
10. Medicine
11. Animal Husbandry
12. Cartography
13. Code of Laws
14. Fishing
15. Optics
16. Sanitation
17. Animal Mastery
18. Exploration
...

i.e. not much I think I've already Mathematics unlocked (Damn Writing) so best bet would be research it next and bulb Currency. Not sure it is worth it really. I had to take a closer look at the tech tree.

So Maths or HBR would be top choices now and I wouldn't be surprised, if I pick something else when I actually start playing the turn. I could still also go towards Drama or Sanitation too.

Hard desicion to make. Main things I would really need:
* Way to pop borders without monuments
* Enough production/food to build me some decent units
* Techs to enable those decent units i.e. decent economy

and naturally all these ASAP. In the end I decided that FoL provides most of these with least risk. It provides decently mobile unit in Fawn that doesn't require extra building. I get Culture when spreading it and Mystisicm is a key tech that I'll need no matter what and ancient forests are pretty good for production and food and there are sufficient amount of them around. It doesn't provide much in the way of gold and beakers, but no alternative is perfect in this respect.

I also considered Drama, but the risk is just too high, if I lose the Artist I've wasted 10T to tech that only provides me culture and nothing else. Also I could use Merchant for Golden Age to get FoL faster and then convert to it. bulbing Maths with it is also potential alternative.

I considered HBR, but I'll hope to fill up the short term mobility needs with Fawns and Hunters.

I decided to go for Mystisicm as next tech since it is cheap so I get to rethink this within next 3T.

I don't think you can go wrong with HBR.

If you want Sanitation, don't forget you can bulb it with the free Artist from Drama.
