Full economy mode, how cute!
I like this version of FIN way more than the previous one, which was just so ugly. PHI is boring, but it leads to fast economy openings, and you have to be really, really fast to get a first to bonus in such a big game.
France is pretty good, I guess. It was good before due to the UU and starting techs. Starting techs are now irrelevant or close to it, it seems. The UB was buffed, which is pretty neat. Musketeers are still top tier in the UU field, I think.

I think this is a winning combination, because it has a lot of economy power to compete against the other late game powers. To win a game like this one, you almost certainly need weak neighbours (at least if you are a player of my skill level), which means neighbours you'd beat to the contested land with or without traits that boost expansion. By that logic, those expansionist traits are not useful in a "win the whole game" perspective. On the other hand, if our weak neighbours give us the chance we need to surge ahead in economy while still getting decent amounts of land, we can then conquer them with a tech advantage and dominate the field late game.
On the other, other hand, I want Boudicca of the Celts and a hilly map!!!
On the other, other, other hand, playing for the late game in a game that retep takes part is pretty dumb. It won't reach late game...
What do you think, retep?
