Ilios Wrote:Gameplay question:

The way I understand the Othus Axe, you can attack with a unit holding it. If the unit survives, you can have another unit in the stack take the Axe, and use it on the attack as well. If that unit survives, you cannot have a third unit take the Axe. Should the unit die, another can pick it up and use the Axe again on the attack.

Do I have that right?

The axe gives +1 fire combat and a unit holding it can attack twice per turn, assuming it has movement to do so.

If the unit holding the axe doesn't die, it cannot be passed around I don't believe however, if the unit does die, the axe may be picked up again by another unit.

That is correct.

If the unit(s) holding the Axe dies any other unit in the stack can pick it up. This can be repeated as many times in a turn as you want so long as you have a live unit to pick up the Axe and the Axe is lying on the ground (ie the unit previously holding the Axe died).

Otherwise the Axe can only be passed once per turn (ie two units can use the Axe to attack with if the first one survives).

Square Leg Wrote:If the unit holding the axe doesn't die, it cannot be passed around I don't believe

It can be passed around within the above limits. wink

Alright, thanks for confirming that guys. smile

I'll follow that up with another question:

Do units keep their fortifying bonus when they're upgraded?
Reply

Just to clarify it a bit, both giving away the axe and taking/picking up the axe count as casting a spell, which under most circumstances a unit can only do once a turn.

In the described example the second unit cannot give the axe to a third since he already used his cast for the turn to pick up the axe.

That makes sense, thanks Xenoborg! smile

Ilios Wrote:Serdoa,

I haven't forgotten about your proposal, and I'm giving it the consideration it deserves (I really did forget to send on the turn though smile)

My problem is I don't really know if I can trust you.

How would you feel about trading your gems for a happy resource you don't own yet? Yes, I will benefit more from it than you, but I think it would work wonders in (re-)establishing good relations.

Also, would we stay in a phoney war until your NAP with the Calabim expires, or would we cease fire immediately?

The Calabim didn't have Feudalism last time I checked, but will have it soon probably. I'm not asking you to give me your tactical plan, but I am curious as to how you will fare against Vampires?

I saw that you've declared war on the Calabim, I suppose that you needed to get back your Copper quickly? They still don't have their own source of Copper?

Lots of questions, there is no rush, answer them when you see fit!

I'll wait for the answers so we can continue the negotiations.

He replied really quickly:

Quote:Ilios,

I making this short but please don't understand that as being upset or anything, I just am in a rush.

Gems: I can agree to that. As for trust: That can only build up over time. Though honestly, what are my options? I can either work with you or against you in this game. Against you didn't work and I don't think I would have gone for it if not all others wanted it. So, it makes more sense to work with you and have us two be the last ones surviving in the end. We can then still battle it out (something I'll probably lose simply by lack of experience in FFH2-warfare, but I don't mind that, this game is [mostly] fun so far)

Phoney war: That depends on what you need more. I can "sell" them either story wink If you don't care, I would think agreeing to a cease fire would be more beneficial (thinking about your proposed trade).

Vampires: I will totally lose if he produces them in greater numbers. I cannot produce any troops capable to resist against them apart from reducing them with collateral from catapults. And I am a long way from Mages or even Archmages. If you have any tips I am open for them.

War on the Calabim: I expect they declared on me - I haven't declared on them (at least not that I can remember). If so that is probably becaues they owe me two workers and the only way to transfer them is to delcare war on each other (not that I have to tell you that).

Anything more you want to know, just ask smile

Kind regards,
Serdoa

Hmm, I just threw in that gems deal to see his reaction. What a difference of tone after facing the Malakim "meatgrinder", right?

That is actually a very good deal. I supply him with Dyes, which I can get by putting down another plantation. In return I get fully two happy sources: the gems, which then gets doubled by Kilmorph Temples.

More thoughts later.

No. Any fortification bonus is lost when a unit is upgraded.

Nervous, backpedalling Tempest queen Wrote:Ilios,

A spy came to me today, by the name of Falamar. Although i might be the queen of pirates, i trust him with many practical manners. Today, he whispered about the news that the Calabrim and Balseraphs stacks have been wiped out, and thus i have no more fear of being attacked by those vampires and clowns anymore. Is this true? Because if that's the case, I see no reason why i should accede to their demands that i attack you anymore.

Amelia

lol

So, because the Calabim stack has been completely destroyed, Darrell is assuming the Balseraph stack is dead as well. smile

Oh, the possibilities...

Peace in our time:

Repentant Clown Wrote:Ilios,

I am glad that we found a deal smile As for the NAP, I am open for suggestions. I would propose a longer time, like T170 or some such but if you rather want it shorter for now or think you are fine to agree to a longer one, go forward and propose a turn. I am pretty much set right now in not warring again with you anyway. wink

As for the Calabim: I would certainly not be offset if you do want to assist, though I do not expect it.

Kind regards,
Serdoa

The Clown Wars are over.

Allow me to explain my thinking.

If I listened to my heart, I'd continue the war with Serdoa unitl I've burned a couple of his cities. But that would just make my main rival, the Calabim, stronger.
With this deal, I'm getting two extra happiness for free, a safe eastern border, and a promise that the Balseraphs will invade the Vampires once their NAP runs out. (I believe their NAP was to last 15 turns until the end of hostilities, which is Serdoa is interpreting as starting the moment the Calabim units are destroyed, meaning now)

I think I'll accept his NAP proposal, maybe shortening it to T160.

Which leaves,... the Lanun:

Angry Malakim Wrote:Dear Amelia,

Falamar? Oh, you mean Darrell...

Suppose I did destroy the stack...
Suppose I'm about to make peace with the Balseraphs...
Suppose the Calabim don't have any troops nearby...
Suppose my strongest units are heavily promoted, in range of your units, and at full strength...
Suppose I'm a bit miffed about you trying to kick me when I was down...
Suppose I'm not happy about that new city you founded on land we had agreed to share...

Tell me...

...what's to stop me from destroying your stack and invading your lands?

Well, firstly, the fact that i didn't do any harm at all to you. My troops basically did nothing to your lands, and once i saw with my hawk that the balseraphs were retreating, i just headed home.

Next, my lands itself. Have you even seen them with a hawk? Because frankly, it's not land you want. Unless you prefer snow or ice or something, then be my guest (also lots of peaks). On the contrast, there is Serdoa nearby who has just lost all his troops, and won't have time to get anything back. Why not take his lands instead?

Thirdly, i still have a Str 10 Saverous. This alone will make your attack much slower then say, attacking another nearby neighbour who just lost all his troops.

Finally, if that's still not enough, how does a 20 turns water mana deal sound?

I haven't figured out what I'll demand for peace, but I can safely say I want it. What can I say, I'm a builder at heart... smile
