Just a very useful advice: if there's no way for you to save a city from starvation in a specific turn, remember that you don't need to work food tiles in that turn: if your food deficit is 1 or 30, it doesn't matter, you only lose 1 pop point (it matters based on the remaining food on the food box, that's why you should only do it if you are sure of the starving). So, you can work full hammers, full specialists, etc. in that turn, getting possibly a lot of benefits without much cost.

Another advice: the alliance should talk with Amelia about the possibility of buying his world spell. Mackoti is one of those players that knows how to field a very big army. He'll probably have a lot of vamps and that means a lot of specters too. How's Mackoti's power graphic?
@Square Leg: Vamps already have haste, since they start with body I and death I.

Amelia's world spell is the perfect anti-vamp medicine, not only blocking the summon and haste spells, but feasting, vampirism gifting, and burning blood.

That is useful...
I was aware of this mechanic before but not these implications.

It's fairly common, say you just conquered a city with its food specials in its outer ring, and you want to put it online asap. It's starving when working all 9 tiles in its inner ring, and you have Music (or Drama in FFH). You want to pop borders asap, hence you build Culture and assign enough citizen specialists to immediately get a border pop.

Why do people drag their feets in war?
You spend all this time getting an army together, putting up with someone (there's always one) being late to the show. And then you suddenly start humming and ha-ing over whether you might gain more from staying in a cold war state and not attacking.
In short? Sareln is wanting to keep the army as a defensive force and wait for Amelia to get mages into play.
Am I wrong in thinking he is crazy?
Our army was going to be outclassed against vampires. But while waiting for Everyone to get together Mackoti has also gotten Cultists, Royal Guard, Hawks and soon will get either Ritualists or start plopping down Death Nodes.
He Got all this UNDER BLIGHT!
If I don't start hearing some more positive ideas in the next set of "sort out our army" messages i'm going to have to deliver an ultimatum of some kind.
It's a damn good job i'm a sneaky SOB who was running a Apoclyspe scam in the background. If I was playing the Orcs for empire expansion I would be ruined by all this feet dragging.

I've sent a message to Amelia asking for a confidentiality agreement so we can discuss things. Hopefully I will get a response.
I wish my fellow alliance member understood the need for promptness regarding Mackoti.

Diplomacy has sped up and is taking all of my time but I should update as/if the advance starts.
Sareln; he's changed opinions due to Vampire position and is happy to attack
Mr Yellow; Wants to go of and hit the Vampire backlines alone, not a team player in war but as long as he does some damage I don't care.
Amelia; Blight hit him HARD. Nowhere near ready with mages or war build up. Not willing to GIVE his worldspell away. His opening offer was to keep some of Mackoti's cities. (Me thinks he overestimates our chances and his own if he thinks he can KEEP Mackoti's cities)
Mackoti; Offered a cease fire to Sareln and mentioned the Blight in the tech thread. He has also emptied one of his border cities... Sareln believes he is hoping to go peace and recover or target Amelia. I'm thinking it might be a bluff and lure. Mackoti is an empire player and my target but he is no fool and could easily win this game.
Mist; Quiet like the dead. I hope he can feel my jealously and hate for being so out of the way. He has recovered the best from the Blight and I am expecting his super secret plan to reveal itself soonish.

That comment on the tech thread was awesome. Mackoti is a funny guy.
But I need to emphasize this again: be very careful in the attack against Mackoti. He's a crazy good BTS player (to the point of being in the best 10 on this site, most likely) and it'll surely reflect on FfH. And one of his main strenghts is warfare.
That being said, I don't think the alliance can afford not to attack him right now. He'll have a massive number of drafted and feasted vampires in a short time and that'll be very hard to counter.
Hopefully Krill and the horsemen will spawn near Mackoti when you summon them. By the way, you don't get guaranteed contact with Krill just because you summoned him. That's some bad news in the diplomatic front.
