[SPOILERS] FFH II PBEM I Lurker Discussion Thread- No Players Allowed!

Sullla Wrote:Maybe it's just me, but if I had a one-time use ability that said "other civs cannot build or research anything for 14 turns", I'd use it right before invading someone else. Yeah sure, growth curve, early game, blah blah - but I still say that pales in comparison to a foe who cannot whip or draft or research anything while a steady stream of units continue to march across the borders. Would definitely have a huge psychological impact on a human player as well. ("I'm being attacked and I can't do anything for how many turns?!")

Of course, in FFH slavery is somewhat nerfed by being available much later in the tech tree at Way of the Wicked, and IIRC it can only be adopted by neutral and evil civs. [I don't actually know when drafting is available huh]

So if someone attacks you with a huge stack and you don't really have any units of your own, you're probably screwed regardless of Stasis.

P.S. I do actually agree though that Selrahc probably used it too early.

IMO, it is unfair to correct Selrahc's information about the Letum Frigus but not also tell Sareln. Especially since Sareln is now going to allow Selrahc access to the Frigus since he (incorrectly) believes that to be inconsequential.

Probably true...let me correct that.

I had a question about Svartalfar and religion choices. I've been trying to learn FFH by playing them, and Sareln says he's going for Fellowship of Leaves. Is Council of Esus kind of useless in MP vs SP, since any intelligent person can see the privateer units mucking around in their land, and know who is behind it?

CoE can be devastating in MP, properly leveraged. The Sidar world spell makes all your units invisible,. If you follow CoE, your units are not ejected from your opponents borders when you declare war hammer. With the dark elves though you really you want FoL. Remember elvish Workers don't chop Forests when building improvements, and FoL promotes Forests to Ancient Forests (+1 food on every tile).

Thanks for the info. I tried picking up FFH and its still a little bit of a mystery to me.

Kael likes to say a game like FFH is impossible unless you build on top of an already complicated game like civ, to give a good starting point. There is a lot involved in the mod and it might take a while to get a feel for it. Continue to lurk this game and ask any questions you might have, that's the best bet nod.

He's much better off running Aristocracy/Agrarianism IMO, but let's see how this works out.

IIRC, drafting is available with the Warfare tech (or possibly the one afterwards) - gives you military state civic - unit production boost, free support and the draft. From what little I've mucked around with it, it's even better than normal as what you draft is decided by the military buildings in the city, so you can draft up a somewhat mixed force.

This PBEM has me tinkering around with FFH again, which is good. smile

Hmm...I sure don't remember checking that option alright. Anyone want to bet this is the last map I'm asked to make?
