It seems that people are going slightly wild with their leader and civ naming.

To make a fightback i named my civ Warthog's School of Magic (in a parody of Hogwart's School of Witchcraft and Wizardry (Heck, Warthog is an anagram of Hogwart!)

No mana nodes could be really bad. Part of me wants to suggest getting certain religions (AV, for sure) could be a lot more valuable since you can use the shrine for mana. I'm not sure how wise that would be, though.

AV - Entropy - Pit Beast!!!
OO - Water - ... Water Walking?
FoL - Nature - ... Poisoned Blades?
RoK - Earth - Stoneskin!!!
Esus - Shadow - Blur/Shadowwalk
Order.... - Law? - Hosts

So indeed there are 4 good ones among those. I plan to go for RoK first, so here's hoping for earth. AV will probably not be mine, so count that out. That means...

It seems everyone forgets the Entropy I spell: Rust!
(Also Wither, if you ever get to archmages, but that's somewhat less relevant.)

Why do you think you won't get AV? I don't see any other civs that actually have a strong claim on it here, and Dain seems to like founding AV in my SP games, if that's worth anything.

Edit: and yeah, leave FoL to the Elves; really...

Hey if we could steal FoL from the elves it would be worth a laugh (and the elves undying hatred!)

Frankly, i'm not that worried about rust, why weaken them when i can just eliminate their stack completely?

I suppose if your entire stack has channeling 2 it matters less. Against iron units, for example, anyone who doesn't resist would lose ~25% of their base strength from losing a metal promotion (2 of 8 for champions; even better vs. chariots) and get a 10% strength reduction on top of that, though. That's almost as good as maxing out maelstrom in strength reduction, aside from the HP reduction.

I'm also excessively cautious and really like softening up stacks before I hit them. smoke
