Great people tech preferences, FYI:

Going to fire merchants after 1st one, but planning to get us another 2 not toooooo long after (once we have a reasonable production base) eventually so we can use knights. Mounted is good for any early offensives and will shut down some of the threats people can put on us early in the game.
Also, late-era starts have terrible research at first. I recommend against cottaging anything but our capitols; we need production and expansion. ROI on cottages very slow for this timeframe.
I'm somewhat against a missionary build at this point. You have a chance of auto spread, and unless you're considering a building in your capitol in the near-future (doubtful, we need workers/settlers/units right now) the OR bonus isn't super appealing there.
Mapmaker made this map very choke oriented. Be on the lookout for chokes, as both opportunities and threats.

Test save is a good idea if you can get that set up. I have my micro in my own thread, and tried to show the enemies moves in 'the lab'
Shame we lost our ded lurkers, sorry for letting you down guys, hopefully we can pick things up again now

Not going to do a test save tonight (2am here), but soon. I'm not sure I want to painstakingly recreate every tile though. I can work in city fat crosses and update with any new cities we create.

Hey guys, just want to say good luck! Even though I've bowed out as a dedicated lurker I'm still glad to see TMIT and Yuris come on board. Hope you all can give Team 1 a run for their money

Wrong mentality, IMO. I don't care if team 1 is comprised of people who win deity always war games like Snaaty/Obsolete/Rusten/etc or someone who held off an uncoordinated 3 way in Pitboss #2.
Our goal, as a team, is not to give runs for someone's money, but rather to win . No matter who is behind the computer, the game still only gives them a fixed amount of inputs and outputs, and nobody is 100% perfect...not us and not them. That said, will I stick them if it looks like they're starting to get away with the game? Obviously. But not only them.

I don't mean to be insulting at all, much the opposite. My point is that if they win, it won't be because they're sulla/speaker/sunrise, but rather because they had a better combination of choices for this game and some luck in terms of other team behavior (all MP games are at least partially decided by luck, though I like settings to minimize it). I greatly respect Sulla and crew, but that doesn't mean I'm going to get mesmerized and play poorly out of fear of 1 team. We CAN beat them and the other teams, if we play well.

TMIT: I'm just thinking about our team demogame on CFC, how *we*, of all teams are running away. I think we can make it with the win, especially if the other teams have already written us off.

Great merchant is 1000 + 2x(pop) on on normal speed. I'm assuming we get a .67 multiplier on quick. Are we in agreement that if that pushes us to CS immediately, I get it next turn, otherwise I wait and avoid the pop starvation?
