I say scout south instead, unless you specifically want to scout out new city sites.

Also not much food, but oh man are there riverside tiles galore.

Well, new city sites are most of the reason to scout, given AW (unless we particularly want that known tech bonus). I'll probably go W-NW, then head south.

Agree. Spices are half a food tile, but not until Calendar. Apart from that the only thing there is 1 flood plain. You may have to split off food from your capital.

Also why NE-NE? The forests block you from moving 2 tiles N next turn (which is where I presume you'll be going) and compared to NE-N or even NE-NW it doesn't reveal that much more after you reach the hill 4N of your scout.

Yeah, only problem is plains hill sheep is also only half a food tile too.

You're right on the scout movement. NE-N is better--good call.

Smack got a tech, and mack grew to size 2. C&D department springs into action!

Demogs this turn:

Smack started with 6k from Mining + Wheel, and now the highest is 9k. Pop growth counts for 1k, so that must mean the last 2k is from AH. That nicely fits within the expected time frame of the tech, so we should put them down for that.

Little surprised they got to size 2 this quickly though, seems a bit fast for worker first even though Mehmed is EXP. However if they did go worker first they probably wouldn't have been able to reach 10 food. Therefore I think Mehmed started in the Gandhi position and went wb first, finishing it last turn and netting it this turn, that makes 10 food from fish + rice + city tile. Little surprised they could finish the wb last turn and still grow to size 2 this turn, but I suppose it's possible.

10 food is a bit scary at this stage, but since they didn't go worker first it makes for a interesting start (especially because they're EXP).

In more domestic news, Shoot finally found some food (pigs) near his cap, and I find another jungled resource (dyes).

I've started implementing a C&D section into the spreadsheet we have, however I don't know how to implement the formula's that would make updating it much easier. Can someone please fill that in for me at some point? biggrin

Incidentally, are there any ded-lurkers who do not have access and want it?

Just as I post that, Native America grow to size 2 as well. Guess that's another non worker start.

Also, look at what we've got here:

Contact! Shame we couldn't meet them cause now they have a EP lead on us but oh well. I think 1W for 80SPF is in order for a scout block.

Glad we have contact, that means we get a known tech bonus on fishing. jive Also better that it's these guys rather then the other 2 teams.

Added formulas for calculating each player's power and demo population, provided we give the proper inputs. Also put the expected rival average depending on which turn is actually being looked at.

Also verified that the tech rate/production for each civ is going according to the turn-by-turn spreadsheet, just to verify that I did things correctly. When I get another chance I'll probably see how quickly we can get settlers out for each civ (either going straight for settler or perhaps another worker then settler, I don't know how you guys want to go about it).

Known tech bonus is only 7% with these 2 civs, that's not enough to help us until we get 14bpt on a civ. We need to contact another civ if we want the known tech bonus to have any appreciable effect on our current output.

Many thanks for the spreadsheet update.

Good point. Still, who knows when another team might find us.
